Alabama Lawmakers Approve Job Protections for Unvaccinated

In an effort to fight COVID-19 vaccination requirements on workers, Alabama lawmakers on Thursday approved legislation to prevent companies from firing workers who claim a religious or medical exemption.

Republicans said they were responding to an outcry from unvaccinated constituents afraid of losing their jobs because of the Biden administration’s vaccination mandate on federal contractors. Democrats argued the bill would put both federal contractors and public health in jeopardy for the sake of scoring political points.

The Republican-sponsored bill states employers must exempt employees from a COVID-19 vaccination requirement if the worker returns a new standardized state form to claim a religious or medical exemption. Alabama lawmakers gave final approval to the bill late Thursday night after votes that broke mostly along party lines. It now goes to Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey.

IMO, it shouldn’t matter what the reason is. Don’t narrowly
define it this way. Religious? Does it matter?

If a person doesn’t want to take the vaccine, that’s good enough.

Yup!

This is the mealy-mouthed, linguini-spined GOP response to the SCAMDEMIC and the Clot-Shot Mandate.

no its important to have the religious exemptions

because yourmpersonal religius beliefs cannot be questioned by the employer, you don’t have to defend them or justify them, or get into a debate with the employer about them

you just have to have them and state your objection to taking “whatever” against yoyr personal religious/moral beliefs

people who dont believe in god use the religious exemption belief and state it violates their moral beliefs

its broader than you think

title vii of the 1964 civil rights act is a critical read now

While I understand what you’re aiming at, using the religious
belief’s argument leaves them open to challenge your religious
status? How many times did you attend church? Do you pay
tithe and adhere to all the teachings of your church.

They can take this line of reasoning as far as they want, in
a witch hunt to cancel the validity of your claim.

I suggest doing away with that defense.

If a person doesn’t want to get the vaccine, they should have
every right to object to anyone forcing something on their
person, that they don’t want to have. Period. No discussion,
no justification, no witch hunt to prove you’re a terrible
Christian, and have proven by your actions you don’t hold
true to your religious beliefs other than just this fake
one.

Religious exemptions under Fed law have nothing to do with organized religion. Courts have defined such exemptions more like “freedom of conscience”. Even the most corrupt court will have a hard time overturning as that would interfere with any number of leftists who would want freedom of conscience to dodge military service, etc.

I agree with you.
Just watched 1943 Edge of Darkness movie about Nazi occupstion of a small town in Norway. It was a good lesson in how far tyrants push their cause on innocent people.

I understand your points, but our rights to our personal self come from the Creator and is enumersted in the Bill of Rights… no need for even addressing 2964 civil rights act.

You are not correct.

It is illegal for them to challenge yoyr beliefs. I reviewed the liberty counsel information they have on this today, Mat Staver was clear SCOTUS has ruled in prior cases emplyoers cannot question or challenge or debate the employees religious beliefs.

Truth. But, is there another legal venue? States need to take back their rights and stop bailing out the blue coasts.

Short answer: companies are trying these things, but the law says sincerely held and does not give the company or anyone else the power to decide that the belief is not strong enough.

So no, making such a claim doesn’t mean the company gets to play God.

As an Alabamaian, I can tell you, this will not help us at all. I will still have to go and give them my DNA every week, being tested for COVID-19. Which I can’t get, because I already had it! It like to killed me and my wife. The harder they push for me to take that witches’ brew, the more I will resist. I will not take it under any circumstances.
