What a great article and a super video by Ms. Sears. That brought tears to my eyes. My grandfather emigrated to the USA with his family (wife and three kids) in October 1927 from Germany to get a fresh start. He, my Oma, and the three kids all became naturalized US citizens. So, personally, it is wonderful hearing Ms. Sears story because it so parallels our own family story (and I’m sure that of many of FReepers, as well).
You know what’s special about Winsome’s father, your grandparents, my grandparents? They came to this Country with pennies in their pockets and made something of themselves without receiving a hand-out. They worked, they studied and made sure they were not a burden to society. They have much to be proud of.
