Now that would be the ultimate irony - that their ruse failed because the West was even weaker than they thought. Not out of the realm of possibility. However, rather than just a chaotic fear reaction in the West, there seems to be a definite push from some source to herd weak Westerners into the figurative (and perhaps literal) cattlecars.
