Yesterday someone asked why Gretta “How Dare YOU!” was still a thing. Here’s my response as it applies to Colin and probably 90% of the personalities we are subjected to daily.
I think part of the issue is we live in a time when every outlet is so desperate for “content” and clicks that they have made people who would otherwise have never been on anyone’s radar for more than five minutes into continuing focal points. Love them or hate them, (Gretta/Colin/Hillary) everyone knows their name and enough people will click to make it worthwhile to write a piece on them. We saw this to some extent with George Zimmerman. Although I don’t think he tried to continue in the limelight and that’s probably one reason we don’t hear about him anymore.
And, yes, there is undoubtedly some group with money pushing them as a tool to forward their agenda. We will probably continue to hear about them even after they crash and burn.
A related thing is the “Where are they now?” videos on former stars or people who were in the news at some point. Enough people who remember them will click on the video to find out the answer.
Hillary Clinton uses this macabre means to keep in the news, by periodically saying something that’s guaranteed to get clicks from supporters and despisers alike.
Last I read he is trying to stay in shape so he can go back to being a slave if only the owners in the NFL would give him a chance.
