I think part of the issue is we live in a time when every outlet is so desperate for “content” and clicks that they have made people who would otherwise have never been on anyone’s radar for more than five minutes into continuing focal points. Love her or hate her, everyone knows her name and enough people will click to make it worthwhile to write a piece on her. We saw this to some extent with George Zimmerman. Although I don’t think he tried to continue in the limelight and that’s probably one reason we don’t hear about him anymore.
And, yes, there is undoubtedly some group with money pushing her as a tool to forward their agenda. We will probably continue to hear about her even after she crashes and burns.
A related thing is the “Where are they now?” videos on former stars or people who were in the news at some point. Enough people who remember them will click on the video to find out the answer.
Hillary Clinton uses this macabre means to keep in the news, by periodically saying something that’s guaranteed to get clicks from supporters and despisers alike.
