Last week, the director of the United Nation's World Food Programme said if the world's top billionaires just donated a fraction of their worth, millions of people who are at risk of starving to death can be saved. Elon Musk, the second wealthiest person in the world, said he'd give up some of his wealth – only if he knows exactly where the money is going.
Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX who has an estimated net worth of $151 billion, according to Forbes, replied to a tweet questioning the group's figures. "If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it," Musk wrote. "But it must be open source accounting, so the public sees precisely how the money is spent."
David Beasley, director of the World Food Programme, said on CNN last week that a "one-time" donation from the top 400 billionaires, whose net worths are ever growing, in the U.S. could help save the lives of 42 million people this year.
Beasley said the organization has systems in place for transparency and open source accounting. "Your team can review and work with us to be totally confident of such," he replied.
To which Musk replied: "Please publish your current & proposed spending in detail so people can see exactly where money goes. Sunlight is a wonderful thing."

Even Musk went after the story. “If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it.” He continued in a second tweet: “But it must be open source accounting, so the public sees precisely how the money is spent.”
The original CNN article said that a fraction of the wealth of the world's richest people could help solve world hunger, not that 2% of Musk's money could solve it like their headline fibbed about.
So Musk, somewhat sarcastically said that if 2% of his wealth could actually solve world hunger (not merely help) he would provide it with appropriate financial accountability. It was a jab at CNN's lying headline
Also, as a side note, 99/100th is a fraction.
So he’s just as big a hypocrite as the others...
‘’if the UN can prove where the money is going’’
I might say it does not matter if they take some but the people get the rest but only for a short time.
That is not the case though. I saw stacks of containers sit in the sun at Port Harcourt, Nigeria waiting on enough bribes to be paid to allow them to be moved. It never happened. All of those tons of medicines ruined.
Just like here, the people must take control of their own destiny, no matter how they do it. Like our lowest classes they must also learn the connection between procreation without restraint or responsibility and their own squalor.
Without either of these responsibilities being taken they are only animals in cages. Even animals in cages eventually control their own population.
None of these things have happened or will. Musk will reach Mars before there is transparency or order and responsibility. His fortune is safe in his hands.
Not a dime from me for any of this. Not if I can help it.
Also, as a side note, 99/100th is a fraction.

Yep. And they’d be glad to take it if they could from him and me and you.
Exactly, because the UN is nothing more than a club for despots and lackeys. Why would they break up each other's racket?
The title description of what he said looks nothing like his actual quote to me. More journalistic malpractice
“All UN money goes one place: the pockets of 3rd world despots and their lackeys.
That is generally true: The 3rd world despots and lackeys rip off what is left over after the 1st world despots and their lackeys first take their cut.
How do you know there was medicine in that medicine?
Of course the un needs to LOOK like it is doing something. So they do cosmetics like what you saw, have white people feed a few black kids in tribal huts somewhere, stamp their brand on t-shirts, etc.
That is 1%.
The rest makes politicos so rich that when they leave the un they never have to go back to their hellhole country of origin again, except for maybe annual photo-ops at plush Marriotts and Hiltons in the capital.
In a recent interview of Elon Musk, he was asked what he thought about the Democrats wanting to increase the taxes on the rich like him.
Musk responded "Isn't the 53 percent that I pay, enough?". That's way more than a tiny fraction of income, it's more than half. It's never enough money for the Democrats to steal and spend.
The UN is only interested in the “give-a-fish” programs
GAME——SET-——MATCH to MUSK.
Ask Africa what happened to “The Pregnant Heifer” program some years back....
My neighbor works at the N Nevada location. Says he is VERY BRIGHT and personable.
Musk isn’t the only business leaving Calif.
IIRC, they are still finding supplies never distributed after Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico. Ruined in ‘storage’.
The guy did found the most successful private space company so far. Also has regular supply missions to the ISS, successfully lands boosters, sent humans to the ISS. I think he's doing pretty good so far.
No excrement Mr. Holmes
HAHA!
how about it. back in the early-mid 50’s...I collected pennies, nickels and dimes for UNICEF (collection tins looked like smokeless tobacco tins with a slot on top) to feed the starving “pagan” babies in Africa (Went to Catholic schools).
all these years later, they are still starving ...for whatever reason
