American Airlines has continued its streak cancellation over the course of Halloween weekend as a quarter of its scheduled flights - 634 of them - were cancelled on Sunday.
The airline has blamed weather control issues, such as strong winds from Dallas, and ongoing staff shortages due to lay-offs made when travel cratered at the start of the COVID outbreak.
In total, more than 1,500 flights have been axed by the airline since Friday with 738 delays and 342 cancellations, according to FlightAware.
On Saturday, 543 flights were cancelled with more than 400 also delayed.
'With additional weather throughout the system, our staffing begins to run tight as crew members end up out of their regular flight sequences,' American Airlines said in a statement to CNN.

Customers are likely rescheduling their flights to SW Airlines now that the SW Pilots are announcing “Let’s Go Brandon” over the intercom. With all of these customer cancellations American had no choice but to cancel the flights.
“Strong Wind in Dallas”
Is this breaking news/
Welcome to the third world country Bidetland—where everything is f&^%%$ up all the time.
actually I got a great price on a fare on southwest just when they had pilot sickouts...
Bicycle? How about a limo.
Winds were on Thursday and Friday.
Not Saturday or today.
Well, I did fart in biden’s general direction but that was away from dallas...
Saturdaty night my band played a little over an hour east of Dallas, wind was maybe 7 to 10mph most of the day.
Until Friday, yes, we had some serious winds, some over 30 mph. Limbs down everywhere, small tornado touched down in Lufkin, no injuries and little damage, but enough wind Wed thru Fri to push my little car all over the roads. Saturday, not so much. Pretty calm since Friday afternoon, strongest wind since then probably 15mph gusts. Not too bad Friday morning, I went out to check a few yard sales, still a little windy but not bad. Nothin even close to cancel flights kinda winds...
Didn’t I see another article about hordes of pilots taking sick leave?
On the far north side of the metroplex we had very strong winds till the middle of the night Friday and moderate winds Saturday morning. It turned to patio weather Saturday afternoon. It’s wide open up here we are closer to Oklahoma than South Dallas on the plains we regularly get high winds up here. My trees took a beating limbs down and leaves everywhere normally the leaves come down when red or brown this year half of them are down green. Wish I had bought that 5kw turbine from the rep when they came to put up the pipes for my solar panels they had the auger here to put in the concrete pole footings. 48+ hours of 20 mph plus wind would have been 225+ kWh of electricity from wind in those two days. Or 1/3 of the 650 kWh I use on avg in November. December is always under 500kWh unless I really crank up the heat pumps vs using the gas furnace. With cheap natural gas to be had I’d rather sell the electricity to ERCOT than use it in the heat pumps for heat. This year with gas doubling in cost I’ll have to run the numbers heat pumps vs gas on the cost per hour of use.
Friday was windy-extended periods of 50-60 mph winds. Over 100,000 folks lost power.
The unvaccinated.

I prefer to call us unvaxed โ Purebloodsโ. Those of us who caught the C flu and โ survivedโ, are the Super Pure Bloods. We have what the vaxed want but can not have- natural immunity and peace of mindโฆโฆno third jab or fourth, or any boosters which will of course be mandated. Peace of mind is one of Godโs greatest gifts.
Love Field, headquarters of Southwest Airlines is less than 20 milles away, and a much much smaller airport. How many flights did they cancel?
Crap, flying with AA on Thursday. Hope they get this crap figured out.
AA is the worst. I have 250k lifetime with United and they are often way better.
Strong winds what a lame excuse, they have a shortage because of their vaccine mandates
