As California prepares to roll out COVID-19 vaccines for children ages 5 through 11, a new survey shows notable hesitancy among parents to get their kids the shot.
According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, 27% of families surveyed said they plan to vaccinate their young children as soon as possible while 66% cited concerns over the vaccine impacting their child's future fertility.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there is no evidence that any of the COVID-19 vaccines cause fertility problems. Still, the reluctance to vaccinate is strong.
"The little research I have done, yeah, I don’t agree with it," said Hannah Carr, a mother of four in Orangevale. "I don’t feel safe putting something into their body that in my opinion, hasn’t been researched enough."
"We don't know [the] long-term effects," wrote Mandy Corriea, a mother of a 5 and 12-year-old. "In 10 years, I will be open to the vaccine, should we need it."
KCRA 3 brought these concerns to local medical experts.
"The idea that millions of people across the U.S. and the world have gotten this vaccine should be reassuring to us," said Dr. Angelica Ha, pediatrician at Kaiser Permanente Roseville. "All of our vaccines, whether COVID or the ones before it, go through a rigorous testing process."
"The FDA did a full evaluation of the safety and the immune responses following immunization in the 5 to 11-year-old age group," said Dr. Dean Blumberg, chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at UC Davis. "COVID is the 9th most common cause of death in this age group for the past year. It's much better to have your child vaccinated."
"I feel it is unsafe and pointless," said parent Amy O'Connor in a written statement. "This age group does not need a vaccine as COVID doesn't affect them badly."
"Although it's less severe in children compared to older adults, it may be severe," Blumberg said. "I have seen children in the ICU with severe disease, both from acute COVID and the post-infectious complications such as MIS-C, the multi-inflammatory syndrome."
"Yes, it is true children, in general, have less severe risk of disease death compared to older population, but it’s not zero," Ha added. "Though children may have less severe illness and are less likely to to be hospitalized, those things can happen. And then they put others in their communities at risk."
In Sacramento County, public health officials expect vaccine clinics to start offering the new shots the week of Nov. 8.
Dr. Ha is lying. Per Alex Berenson, the AAFP (?) states: “In the testing, only 1,518 children received the shots, and 750 received a placebo. This is far too few to see uncommon side effects, such as myocarditis/pericarditis, as Pfizer admits.”

So it’s science when this hack makes up anecdotes about kids getting sick. This guy’s a scumbag.
How is that a “rigorous testing process?” The Salk vaccine was tested on 2 million kids, FFS!

Honestly, if I hadn’t read the headline, I would have assumed it was the Babylon Bee.
The stats also do not tell us if these children had cancer, muscular disytrophy, spina bifida, cystic firosis, cerebral palsy or any form of congential heart disease. There are also dozens of other genetic disorders.
IMO < this is NOT called for.
Few children get it. Very few children die.
Good health is a tremendously positive asset.

It's all very sad. I have two sons, one 50, and the oldest will be 55 next month. They both got the shots, so all they did was give me more to worry about. Thankfully, I don't have any grandchildren, which would only add to my worries.

Another example of the power of propaganda: The headline refers to the minority who have no qualms - rather than to the majority who fear that the jab might sterilize their little kiddies.
Imagine if the headline had instead read: 66% of families surveyed refuse to vaccinate their young children, cite fear of grave and irreparable long-term health damage
The same facts, just presented differently - yet with an entirely different impact on the subconscious of the readers.

Hope she's successful with a few, but I'm sure Twitter will slap her down soon. Too bad it took her son's bad reaction to the shots to wake her up. She's supposed to be a teacher. I wonder what kind of reception she's been getting there since she's done an about-face.
