I’ve been listening to “the history of China” podcast — and I strongly recommend it -https://thehistoryofchina.wordpress.com/
I didn’t know much about China’s history before listening to it - and it is a detailed yet engrossing listen.
To the point here — China has violently suppressed any non-Huaxhi / Han influences for centuries. It did so against Buddhism and against Christianity.
They want to sinicize Islam - but the thing is that Islam, unlike Christianity, is intimately linked to one ethnicity, Hejaz Arabs. Mosques must have minarets. Domes maybe not,
but minarets to call out to prayer is a must.
And, the Saudis have been instrumental in pushing the view that any non-hejaz Arab influence is shirk.
If you look at the minarets of the old mosques they look exactly like pagodas
Yeah. Also, China has a very violent history of overthrowing governments they don’t like.
This one is overdue. Islam is obviously a threat for different reasons than real religions are. Islam is a fascist form of government disguised as a religion.
I live in their shadow in HK and their threat is growing here too. Massively.
Thanks for the podcast. Will check it out.
