I see your point, but don’t these ports work around the clock anyway?

For the first time, the Port of Long Beach has achieved all of the 2023 emission-reduction goals outlined in the San Pedro Bay Ports Clean Air Action Plan, despite moving record volumes of containerized cargo.

The Port’s annual emissions inventory report found diesel soot is down 90%, smog-forming nitrogen oxides have decreased 62%, and sulfur oxides have decreased 97%, all while container throughput has increased 21%. The pollution levels are all compared to the 2005 baseline, the year before the original San Pedro Bay Clean Air Action Plan (CAAP) was adopted. From what I have read the answer to that is no. I would assume that some parts of the port work around the clock, but not all do. The reason according to what I read is that there were not enough trucks showing up to be loaded at night, but I also read that truckers were saying the crane operators were not loading trucks in retaliation for complaints and slowing things down on purpose.

Lots of finger pointing and I assume red tape, but the bottom line is that someone is making money off of all of this and that someone or somebody wants to keep it that way.
