China Cracks Down on Vanity-Project Super Skyscrapers

China has restricted the construction of extremely tall skyscrapers in smaller cities as part of a crackdown on wasteful vanity projects by local governments.

Without special approval, cities with populations of less than 3 million must not build skyscrapers taller than 150m, and cities with larger populations must not construct buildings higher than 250m, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development said on Tuesday (Oct 26).

While China acknowledges that high-rise buildings promote more intensive use of land resources, it is increasingly concerned that local officials are blindly pursuing construction with little attention to practicality and safety.

Means that developers will have to build more crappy building to make up for the one really big crappy building - could result in more profits for the developers as they frequently resell buildings before they are built.

Not good over there, but it does happen and considering that more than half of the world’s new construction is now in China, their track record could be worse.

And don’t forget the building that’s about come down in San Francisco...

I’m assuming all that construction is using green materials and that the complex will be run off of solar and wind power, with no plastics or petroleum products used?

That is what they will claim for Western consumption. They’ve figured out how to play us, and we’re so busy screaming at RINOs that we don’t even know what’s happening to this country.
