I don’t understand why the parents even considered this. Not at all.
I could MAYBE see it in a dire circumstance where mortality is huge and that outweighs the trial risk....AFTER adult trials of sufficient duration and sample sizes. Neither was the case here.
But this was purely foolish, social contract, liberal logic crappola. The parents deserved to get this injury and suffering, not the poor child they mislead.
It reminds me of parents who get sex change surgery for their 8 year old children.
