Maybe we have confirmation bias due to this being CNN but i read it as them trying to claim it is a magic vax for all kinds of diseases Well, the title does read:

First, cdc had to redefine the definition of "vaccine" because the stab doesn't fit the traditional definition.
Before the change, the definition for “vaccination” read, “the act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce immunity to a specific disease.” Now, the word “immunity” has been switched to “protection.”
The term “vaccine” also got a makeover. The CDC’s definition changed from “a product that stimulates a person’s immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease” to the current “a preparation that is used to stimulate the body’s immune response against diseases.”

BTW, can you name two or three vaccines that do not require boosters to maintain their protection?
Shingles
Measles
The better question....can you name a "vaccine" that requires boosters every 3-6 months to maintain effectiveness?
Can you name a disease with so many "breakthrough" cases like the wuhan flu?
To: ealgeone
Or a vaccine in which the vaccinated must also wear a face mask to protect them from other vaccinated people?

Or a "vaccine" that requires "proof" to be able to travel or work.
Or one where the definition continues to change.

My standard for vaccines is this—99% protection after ten years of studies (to make sure there are no long term side effects).
These vaxxes are a joke.

To be scientific, one would need to filter the vaccinated and unvaccinated study groups to create equal populations by age, race, sex, overall health status, etc. *then* you could look for differences.income

“The claim is that it lowers overall mortality.”
Also quite obvious. As a group, people who seek vaccination are different demographically than those who do not. People of lower socio-economic levels are less likely to be vaccinated and also likely to have poorer health care. So it is pretty simple to follow that logically, the higher socio-economic group would be less likely to die of other causes because of their superior health care. This can all happen without drawing any conclusions about the vaccine having any cause-effect relationship with mortality from non Covid factors.
So, the article gets a big, “DUH” from me. Of course those with superior medical care are less likely to die this week than those with crappy medical care.

The CDC and others have access to all the data. They can query the databases for all possible combinations of age, race, insurance plan, etc., and select the criteria which leads them to their predetermined result. In fact, I wouldn’t doubt that they query all combinations where unvaccinated deaths > vaccinated deaths and then work backwards.

As a group, people who seek vaccination are different demographically than those who do not. Exactly!
The inability to speak Pashto (the language of the Pashtuns, of Afghanistan) likewise confers numerous health benefits! When combined with the ability to speak Schwyzer Dütsch (the Swiss-German dialect), one's overall mortality rate due to, e.g., stepping on landmines, being decapitated for failure to observe the Call to Prayer, etc. drops to almost zero!
I mean: Correlation is the same thing as causation, right?

Wow! No heart attacks? No strokes? No cancer? I better get me to a pharmacy for this death-defying vaccine NOW!
To: MNDude
"People who got two doses of Pfizer vaccines were 34% as likely to die of non-coronavirus causes in the following months as unvaccinated people, the study found. People who got two doses of Moderna vaccine were 31% as likely to die as unvaccinated people, and those who got Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine were 54% as likely to die, Xu said."
The article goes on to admit that the different outcomes are probably related to the general health of the vaccinated versus the unvaccinated; it does not attempt to explain the different outcomes with reference to any specific causal mechanism in the vaccines. Moreover, deaths- for any reason - within 14 days of the vaccination are classified as deaths of the unvaccinated.
The article does not provide a breakdown by age and cause of death, making the claims even harder to evaluate. Why would the Covid vaccines provide protection against completely unrelated diseases they are not designed for?
To: mac_truck
"The study itself demonstrates the relatively better health among the vaccinated...but thanks for playing."
That actually UNDERMINES the fundamental suggestion of the article - that the vaccines somehow provide protection against other diseases. The study apparently establishes no causal mechanism why the vaccines would have such a benefit, and is forced to speculate about the general health of the vaccinated versus the unvaccinated.
The statistics are also skewed by classifying deaths within 14 days of a vaccination as deaths of the unvaccinated, which could shift deaths caused by the vaccines to the side of the unvaccinated.

Here is the 20 million dollar question. Why is it that Western countries and their allies use the mRNA vaccines? Russia and China don’t.
