Based on the sad personal experience of watching the decline of a 90+ year old relative progress through dementia into Alzheimer’s the signs are clearly showing Joes real state of mental well being.

Being in water degrades DNA. The body was underwater for a couple of weeks. Also, dental was easy & quick .... didn’t have to wait days/weeks for lab results on DNA. I’m sure they had the parents round up dental records shortly after the authorities started looking for BL.
Unfortunately, I have had experience with domestic abuse/violence situations (personal ie friends/family & via working for the police). I’ve been predicting since he went missing that he killed himself. What really pissed me off was that he did it without leaving Gabby’s location ... he was good & dead when they found her so he didn’t know that she had been located. Keeping Gabby’s location to himself was purposeful (the b@stard). These guys want ‘control’ - the ultimate control is to kill the other person & then keep the location to yourself & one level beyond is taking the location to the grave. Suffering family & friends don’t matter.
Most cowboy/western movies use real guns or real shooting replicas.
First of all, they cost less, because there’s far more of them out there, and secondly, non-shooting pieces not only cost more, but you can’t even shoot blanks with many of them.
They need the gun to go “bang-bang” and non-shooting guns when fired even with blanks could blow up in your hand due to the pressure not being able to escape.
The real news is how in almost any case, no one is shot, because the rules for the guns on set is so strict. Good producers use very reputable, knowledgeable people who ensure such things.

Bingo. To me high probability that it’s one big theater designed to always have a conflict to fool people into “ you need me” to stand up for you.

I would think there would be a strict protocol about emptying any forearm and having it double checked by a second individual before it is brought anywhere near a set where blanks are used.

Also, any actor with a scintilla of intelligence would inspect the firearm personally before pointing it at anything or touching the trigger.
