Biden promises he's going to take 'millions' of cars off roads

It seems for a lot of Americans, that short drive from home to office may no longer happen very often.

Nor might the family drive to grandma's.

Or a trip to a football or basketball game.

Instead they'll apparently walk to a train station, get on and ride, then walk from the train station to their destination.

It's because President Biden is going to take "literally, millions of automobiles" off the road.

His comments came this week while he was promoting his big-spending, big-government agenda, and were captured by CNS News.

The report explained that "in his mind," if he gets Congress to approve his multi-trillion dollar spending packages, much will be solved.

"When the almost-79-year-old president finally got around to the main point – explaining the two 'infrastructure' bills Democrats want to pass simultaneously – he returned to the topic of train travel, which in his mind will take 'millions' of cars off the road," the report said.

"Both these bills are going to help us meet the moment on the climate crisis in a way that creates good jobs, makes us more economically competitive – $66 billion in passenger rail and freight rail," Biden claimed. "Why (do) I always talk about passenger rail and particularly high-speed rail? You realize the Chinese are now building another high-speed rail line that will go up to 300 miles per hour? You say, what difference does that make, Biden?"

He went on, "Well, guess what? If you can get on a train and go from here to Washington much faster than you can go in an automobile, you take a train, you take the train. We will take, literally, millions of automobiles off the road – off the road,...

A million cars off the road equates to how much loss in revenue from gasoline taxes, registration fees, tolls, tickets, parking meters, parking garage/lot taxes...?

Where is Biden going to make up that lost revenue, in train ticket costs?

The Chinese are a lot more concentrated and they have a lot fewer cars, so there is a better market for trains.

Pretty sure those trains can move covid around efficiently.

If I had to take the train to where my grandmother lived —on a farm near a town of 50 people in the boondocks of southern Illinois — it would have to have been on a freight train and I would have had to walk a good distance on both ends of the trip. Or, not go.

Why does anyone think that even the High and Mighty President of the United States should get to make that decision for me or anyone else?

Let’s go Brandon!

I like trains, they are a great way of transport.

But for the last 60+ years, passenger rail has been in the hands of government, and they have completely f***ed it up - doing what government does - making it bloated, expensive, inefficient. They have destroyed it.

No doubt Biden and Pelosi will dump $hundreds of billions more down public/government transport ratholes.

Nothing new.

I remember in the 70s a Russian dissident address both houses of Congress.

The gist of his speech revolved around limiting our travel.

When he was done the Congress stood up and clapped.

I would have walked out

Unless you call “walking distance” 5 miles round trip there is NOTHING I can buy.

And I’m not that deep in the “boonies”.

Same here. There's going to be a fight.

The Electric Vehicle option is nothing but a ruse.

First, they want to completely eliminate gasoline and diesel powered vehicles.

They have never said they want those millions of cars replaced, one-for-one, with electric vehicles because THEY CERTAINLY DO NOT WANT THAT !

They pretend (right now) you will have the choice of an electric vehicle but will proclaim the EV is not practical, is dangerous in terms of battery fires, will be too demanding of the electric grid and can never reach mass numbers due to a worldwide limit on lithium.

AFTER the gas-powered cars are gone, they will then prohibit electric cars.

No personal vehicles equals no personal freedom.

That is what is REALLY being planned.

Maybe that is the REAL “reason” for the chip shortage. If the cars have no chips they are not drivable. No one can drive, sell, or buy them.

There are tons of cars sitting in lots waiting for computer chips.

They are destroying our way of life one drop at a time.

Bast@rds.

I recall when electric lawnmowers were first introduced, neighbor lasted one summer with it complaining all the time before he was back to using gas powered the next summer.

If I can’t use the roads than neither can you Brandon.
