The already ambitious global carbon emission reduction goals were dealt a significant blow this month as China, having recently pledged to end all future foreign coal power projects, announced that they would be further committing to domestic coal expansion – likely pushing back the year the country expects to reach peak emissions (currently 2030), referencing a new “phased timetable and roadmap for peaking carbon emissions”..
Statista’s Martin Armstrong reports that, in a statement after a meeting of Beijing’s National Energy Commission, the Chinese premier, Li Keqiang said:
Given the predominant place of coal in the country’s energy and resource endowment, it is important to optimise the layout for the coal production capacity, build advanced coal-fired power plants as appropriate in line with development needs, and continue to phase out outdated coal plants in an orderly fashion. Domestic oil and gas exploration will be intensified.”
As data from Global Energy Monitor shows, planned and under construction coal plants in China already totaled 238 projects in July 2021, equating to an expected 260,017 megawatts of capacity.
This new output accounts for over half of all the world’s currently under construction coal energy capacity and puts China firmly ahead of all other countries still investing in the fossil fuel.
We know at least on person is going to be furious…
well America will have to do this on windmills and solar panels. These people have even outlawed BBQ’s and wood stoves.
It’s no secret these elitist “environmentalists” are deadly sociopaths planning to kill billions.
So, tell me again why we still play the part of the sap and continue to do as the say we should.? Are we really that weak and stupid.?
It’s okay, they’re not white people.
whatcha bet the little climate urchin has fossil fuel heat in her swedish house!
I'm really starting to wonder.
Based on this, if Biden and all the global warming nuts were serious about cutting carbon emissions, they’d be doing everything possible to shift manufacturing from China back to the US and other western nations. They more we import from China, the more coal they’ll burn to produce electricity.
I guess it makes sense to them to import more and more from the world’s biggest polluter.

meanwhile, china has experienced dam failures. Lost dams equates to lose hydro power.
Major quality of life changes have been occurring since at least the industrial age. We have moved from whale oil, kerosene and lumber as fuel to petroleum, natural gas and nuclear; we have moved from horse-drawn carts to automobiles and trucks, from slave galleys to cruise ships, from fireplaces to central heating and air conditioning and the changes have been organic for the most part. Is there is any record of a major improvement being made after government edicts and bans of older technology? I know there are some auto changes (e.g., safe measures) and some changes necessitated by wars but I think mainly improvements come without government coercion and subsidies. In fact, such government interference tends to gum up the natural progress.
Coal bad
CCP Communist coal good.
Weasels.
Dealing with people with mental issue she has is extremely frustrating.
Per my wife, who has 35 years in the mental health field.
But, she says you can read them like a book. They do the exact thing over and over. Its all about attention. Take the attention away, and they have to be put under suicide watch.
This kid should have been taken away from the parents as they had no idea how to handle it and used her problem as a means to push their selfishness.
The Chinese have absolutely no intention of ever giving up their coal fired electric plants.
Every American should read Barbara Tuchman’s “Stilwell and the American Experience in China.” From that book, read when I was in junior high school, that the classic Chinese negotiation strategy is to make vague promises of future performance in exchange for concrete concessions now. Then, they manufacture excuses as to why they never deliver on what they promised. It comes from one of their own proverbs:
“We can always fool the foreigner.”
What that means is that in their culture, it is perfectly acceptable, in fact expected, to simply lie to foreigners. There is no compulsion, ethically or morally, to deal in an honest manner. It’s part of a very racist attitude. Tuchman recounted how, after Stilwell had met with Chang Kai Shek, Chang would insist on opening the windows to “get rid of the smell of the foreigner.”
Foreigners are subhumans to be ripped off.
China NEVER intends to end their dependence on coal, in 2030 or 2090 or whenever. When some future date rolls around, the Chinese autocrats (of whatever stripe) will simply push forward and say “not ready to end use of coal yet”.
Whereas a wilderness will have grown up in that territory once known as “the United States of America”. The former tenants will have starved, frozen to death, or died of the ravages of new and uncontrolled pandemics.
Mankind’s next great bloodletting will be a war between China and Islam. They will be fighting over the carcass of western civilization.
Unlike Russia, China sees no benefit in trying to prevent the West from committing suicide. So if we REALLY want to destroy our cultures economies, China welcomes us to do just that.
All that hard black dirt you can just dig out of the earth and light on fire and get energy from?
WELL, DUH !!
