Iconic Target Store on Mission St to Close Amid Shoplifting Tidal Wave
California Eagle ^ | 21 Oct 2021 | Ken Kurson

“This store loses $25,000 a day to shoplifting,” an SFPD officer told the Globe in lengthy, taped interviews conducted this week. “That’s $25,000 that walks out the door on average between 9 and 6 every day.”

(The Globe is redacting the officers’ names because of critical remarks made about Mayor London Breed and District Attorney Chesa Boudin that could potentially endanger their jobs.)

“This store does between $80,000 to $120,000 in sales every day. And they lose 25 of it [meaning $25,000]. Even if they’re making 25% profit, the stealing takes that down to zero.”

Asked if the presence of armed, uniformed police officers had any deterrent effect on thieves, one officer was blunt in his assessment.

“They don’t care. There’s no consequences. Literally zero consequences. I’ve kicked out… I’ve been here since 9 AM today. I probably have already kicked out eight or nine people and I’ve recovered a thousand dollars worth of stuff alone off of that. Whether we kick them out, tell them they can’t come back, whether I put them in handcuffs and take them down to the county jail—there is no difference. Because they will not be prosecuted by the district attorney. T

Mayor London Breed and District Attorney Chesa Boudin should be arrested, charged, and tried as accomplices to the thefts.

To what thefts? According to the laws there in that community, you have to take more than $950 or so of merchandise before it even becomes a misdemeanor.

These greedy capitalist corporations are closing down stores with no consideration for the people, mostly people of color, who live in the neighborhoods they serve. These people will now find themselves in a ‘retail desert’. This kind of thing makes Joe Biden sad.

If you think a target store can be iconic, you have problems.

The old school method of a store fronts and counter top service is going to make a come back. You have the clerk a list and he goes in the back and gets them. Like the old west.

The District Attorney needs to be charged as a co-conspirator in these crimes.

Clerks will be behind bullet proof glass and you will hand them a list of things you want. No more browsing. Good. It is a waste of time anyway.

Really, it’s Target. I don’t care about this shoplifting nonsense. I want an in depth breakdown of the bathroom situation in this store. Are all perversions equally and respectfully accommodated? Who’s to say shoplifting doesn’t give some of these people a sexual thrill? I’d say any deviant who normally shoplifts while aroused has a sexual discrimination suit against Target. “Are you stealing that wrench in your pocket or are you just happy to be shoplifting at Target today?”

Every store in that sewer of a city is woke and, hence, asked for everything they get. Only a single digit IQ fool could think they can embrace liberalism, yet choose as to how far they have to go with it.

I would hope liberals could connect the dots once their families are doing without, but again, single digit IQ fools always miss the point.

These people will now find themselves in a ‘retail desert’.

That's what they'll tell us.

Or, they'll dismiss it, blaming the large retailers: "It's not our fault if large, profitable companies are losing money because they refuse to invest in security services and ways to deter theft.

Agree, I’ve thought about it too. Virtual items on a shelf, and then they are assembled and bagged in the back. After you pay, they come through a secure double-door’d chamber and you’re on your way.
