One minute before midnight on Sunday, Class I rail operator Union Pacific (UP) slammed on the brakes and halted intermodal services from west coast ports to its Global IV terminal near Chicago.
The embargo affects the ports of Long Beach, Los Angeles, Oakland and Tacoma and will last up to seven days.

During my early adulthood, I spent a number of years in LE and security. With that background, when I see widespread screw ups that have a serious national implications, I become very suspicious and wonder if this is deliberate sabotage by a foreign or domestic enemy. If an enemy wanted to attack this nation at this moment, think of the damage they could do. Sorry, that just the way I think.

Actually these intermodal facilities are a good 30 miles southwest of Chicago located near where I80 and I55 meet. Both UP and BNSF have mammoth intermodal facilities in this area that are plenty far enough away from the ferals in Chicago.

Contrary to this blogger’s claim, the Union Pacific announced that it’s Long Beach terminal will now be open 24/7. Previously, It had been closed for part of Sunday/Monday.
The incompetence is shocking.
