President Biden and former President Donald Trump are tied in a new poll looking at a potential matchup in the 2024 election — with Trump surging past Biden among independents.
If the election were held today, 40 percent of likely voters would punch Biden’s ticket, and 40 percent would pick Trump, while 14 percent said they would choose another candidate, a Grinnell College National Poll released Wednesday found.
Both also registered strong support from their respective political parties — with 80 percent of Republicans backing Trump and 87 percent of Democrats in Biden’s corner.
But among independents, Trump has the edge 45 percent to 28 percent for Biden.

remember, Trump was what, down 17 points to Biden last fall? And finished with more votes than Biden, until the middle-of-the-night vote dumps. So tied must mean Trump is actually up 5-10%.
A 2024 debate would look just like the 2020 debaates, with PedoJoe being fed his nonsense answers through his earpiece.
It is BS. Big time.
If he’s nominated, I can’t see Trump winning in 2024. He is too polarizing and done nothing to make inroads. That’s why he lost. The agenda is more important than one man. He used to say as much at rallies but it’s clear he doesn’t really believe it.
The notion that Biden will run for reelection is absurd on its face; he can barely get through a day now without embarrassing himself. ANY poll on a Trump-Biden matchup is a waste of time and money. #FJB
Too much MSM teat time for you, apparently.
I mean, did you actually come into a thread where by proof, indies have swung 30 points to Trump since the stolen election, to shout: "Trump is too polarizing"?
Who is "too polarizing"? Well by gosh, according to independents, that would be the current resident of the White Hospice, Yuri Bidenpov! CMON MAN.
You nailed it! Bingo. The truth is that if an honest election were held today, Trump would mop the floor with Biden.
Whenever the numbers look bad for the left they always use the
40 percent count.
Let’s go Brandon!
Apparently things must get a lot worse for Democrats to realize their candidate is a demon from hell.
LMAO, sure, nod nod, wink wink.
I think so also.
My choice is DeSantis. Similar philosophy without the bombast.
I don't think Ron induces the unhinged hatred that DJT does.
I think it’s indicative as to how polarized the voters are. Even with all that we’ve seen of Biden’s endless string of disasters over the last 9 months, the vast majority of Democrat voters would vote for him again if Trump were the opponent.
I’m tempted to say “don’t run”, but it wouldn’t matter who the Republicans nominate — the Democrat machine would be calling him/her ‘Hitler’ by October before the election.
At the height of the Trump hate by the media, if huge crowds of people in the stadiums were chanting F*** Donald Trump, the media would run it wall to wall. Right now at the HONEYMOON 1st year, 1st term spontaneous LETS GO BRANDON / FJB is going on, and even Liberal Nut TikTok and YouTube is playing that stupid song with people mouthing lyrics.
The only way they win is if they Cheat, and they fully intend on cheating over and over. They won before for a CHEAT.
Not buying it. Biden’s been sinking like a rock.
I believe half the country would not vote for Trump under any circumstances. And there is nothing Trump can do to change that at this point.
DeSantis is more focused and disciplined than Trump, but Trump is more entertaining.
We need a vigorous primary contest to see who the strongest candidate is. Coronations are for monarchies.
You do both realize don’t you, that if you ignore the cheat, Trump already soundly defeated Biden in 2020? So with all due respect, your theories about Trump being too polarizing, etc. make no sense. If he beat Biden soundly in 2020, how could he possibly do worse against him in 2024 now that people can see first hand how bad Biden is? He couldn’t, and wouldn’t. That’s how you know this poll is a work of fiction.
And by the way, a vigorous primary is great, but let’s be honest. If all we’re given is a choice between Trump and a slew of career politicians, just like we did in 2016, Trump will easily prevail, as he should. And for all DeSantis’s merits as a governor, he’s still a career politician. He did nothing but talk a good game throughout Obama’s presidency. When it came to challenging Boehner’s or Ryan’s leadership, it was crickets.
