My closest friend just underwent a three day evaluation for dementia. I talk to her three times a week and have for 46 years, she seems good, maybe a few hiccups. Her sons were telling me differently. One of the tests was a circle on paper and she was supposed to draw the numbers on a clock, then draw the big hand and little hand to 11:15. She drew a straight line threw the circle.
Montreal Cognitive Assessment. They used it to diagnose my grandmother's dementia. This is the test that Trump said he took and said was 'difficult'.
that’s the mini mental status exam. I was shocked when I saw my dad’s clock. It did confirm some things, however.
My brother’s short-term memory was completely shot, He couldn’t remember what was said five minutes or a day ago, or repeat three words he had been asked to remember. However, he could carry on a conversation (often repeating what he had said the day before), recount incidents from the 1930s and WWII, and draw the hands on a clock face with no trouble.
You could give that same test to everyone under 30 and they would probably do the same thing after they asked “whats a clock?”.
