NDP leader Rachel Notley used the opportunity to criticize the UCP and Albert Health on Twitter for mentioning the boy’s death along with stating he had “pre-existing conditions.”
Alberta NDP leader Rachel Notley and her MLAs attacked Jason Kenney and the Alberta government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in the wake of a 14-year-old boy’s death due to terminal brain cancer.
On Tuesday, Simone Spitzer took to Facebook to call out Alberta Health for labelling her younger brother Nathanael’s death COVID-related.
Nathanael was, in fact, already dying of Stage 4 brain cancer in palliative care, but tested positive for COVID-19 days before his expected death.
The Spitzer family was not only devastated by their loss, but said they were shocked Nathanael’s death was used to add to Alberta Health’s COVID-19 numbers as the youngest COVID-19 death to date, and called it “fake news” in a Tuesday Facebook post.
NDP leader Rachel Notley used the opportunity to criticize the UCP and Albert Health on Twitter for even mentioning there were “pre-existing conditions” in Nathanael’s death.
"Telling their loved ones that there were other health complications that contributed to their death offers no comfort whatsoever,” tweeted Notley.
“No matter what ‘pre-existing conditions’ they had, this child died during a fourth wave that was preventable. This shouldn’t have happened. We need to know what will be done to stop it from happening again.”
But it was in fact, ‘pre-existing conditions’ that was responsible for the death of Nathaneal Spitzer, not COVID-19.
Despite this, other NDP MLAs joined the fray attacking the government for mentioning that there were any pre-existing conditions involved in the death.
Thomas Dang, the NDP MLA for Edmonton-South followed, tweeting: “For the 12% of us in Alberta who have asthma, downplaying the death of a 14-year-old for comorbidities is the opposite of comforting. This is a life snuffed short. It’s a tragedy and a disaster.”
NDP MLA for Edmonton-Highlands-Norwood, Janis Irwin, also tweeted: “I can’t stop thinking about this. A family is grieving the loss of their child in a preventable fourth wave. I don’t care what other medical conditions this child had. They are gone. We need to all fight for better. This cannot happen again.”
Irwin also retweeted a post from Dr. Quentin Durand-Moreau in the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Medicine.
“I am disheartened by this,” the tweet says in reference to Hinshaw’s mention of the 14-year-old boy’s “complex, pre-existing condition that played a role in their death.”
“But I don’t understand why we persist in mentioning the ‘pre-existing condition’: is COVID involved (y/n), and if yes, it was therefore an avoidable death with better public health policies. Comorbidities do not matter.”
The Western Standard spoke with Simone Spitzer, the sister of Nathanael who died of brain cancer last week.
“Thank you for trying to get the truth out there with us,” she said.
Spitzer shared the link to a GoFundMe page the family set up “In loving memory of Nathanael Spitzer.”
The page mentions Nathanael’s (Nati’s) fight with brain cancer that led to his untimely death on October 7.
“Nati was quite the entertainer, always quick with a smile, fast with a joke and will be deeply missed by his family and friends,” the Spitzer family shared on the page.
The page was created by siblings of Nathanael to assist their parents with “the cost of the funeral and the financial toll this had on them.”
The donation option has since been disabled as Spitzer told the Wester Standard the family had “reached our goal” for the funeral costs.
The Western Standard reached out to Alberta Health for comment on the accusations from the family of Nathanael’s death being falsely counted as a COVID death, but has yet to get a response as of publishing.
It took the grieving family to post on social media, that the poor young man was suffering from stage 4 brain cancer and had a positive test for Covid-19, TWO DAYS before his death, to get the REAL STORY!
Please not how the socialist/communist NDP types ALL want the fact that the boy had brain cancer, to NOT be included in the details, so that a 14 year old died of Covid-19.
All I know is, MOST, if not ALL of AHS senior staff and the elected members of the government and opposition would be VERY WISE to examine their relationship, or lack thereof, with Jesus. From my perspective, based on all the lies foisted upon the people of Alberta, their DISREGARD for treating Covid-19 patients with DRUGS THAT WORK, like HCQ and Ivermectin, and their vaccine mandates to inject potentially poisonous experimental 'gene therapy' drugs into healthy people, I suspect their eternity will be VERY hot and sulphurous.

The statists from both Canada and the US are DESPERATE to keep the porn panic and, along with it, their controls/mandates/restrictions going. Thanks to the Delta variant we’re approaching herd immunity and, at worst, low level endemic status for COVID-19. They’ll try to hide that fact but will fail, IMHO.

There was no point in testing him for Covid except for jacking the numbers.
And I honestly have my doubts he really tested positive.

My brother in law was in hospice care for an inoperable cancerous brain tumor. When he died they called it Covid. This was early on... I knew all along that the data was corrupt yet people keep buying into it.

There IS a ‘spiritual veil’ covering MILLIONS of otherwise ‘intelligent’ people. I used to sing in a Christian men’s choir. The choir director will not let anyone who is ‘unvaxxed’ return to the choir. When I spoke with her, she told me how there is a satanic deception that is blinding Believers. I agreed with her 100% EXCEPT she figured that I was being deceived, and I believe the opposite!

The almost comical part of your story is that the vaccines have now become by any normal measures what could only be described as complete failures. All over the world "cases" are surging among the "vaccinated". The vaccines were all designed to fight off a pathogen that essentially no longer exists. The real "experts" warned in the beginning that the original form of the virus would mutate quickly into other variants. They were of course over ruled by politicians and those who saw the potential for billions in profits.
The number of people using vaccines that did more to mitigate symptoms than kill off the virus assured that the mutations that evolved in response would be resistant to them. The most prevalent survivor, the “Delta variant” is contagious enough that depending on the part of the country you or world you live in that most people have already been exposed or came down with an infection and already have some form of natural immunity. There is mounting evidence that persons who received the “experimental mRNA vaccines” are likely more vulnerable to the variants that evolved in response to the vaccines.
That is called our "government in action". Trillions of dollars wasted in futile forms of “protection”... lockdowns and “vaccines” with worse records of serious injury and death associated than all other actual vaccines in over 30 years combined. And the misinformation campaign that has made idiots out of people like your choir director would be comical if not for the human suffering and death associated.
There would have been so much more clarity if they would have said from the beginning of this that you can’t die from “Covid” if you already have a chronic, terminal diagnosis of another disease.
If you have terminal cancer, late stage heart failure, kidney failure, Alzheimer’s, etc.... your death should never be considered a Covid death.
On the other hand, if someone is obese and has diabetes, people should not use their 2 non-life threatening co-morbities as a way to downplay the seriousness of Covid.
I would love to see what the official Covid death toll would be if we removed all deaths that occurred in people who had previously been given a life expectancy time frame because of another terminal disease.
