The Earth falls off flat at the California border for me - my truck/trailer will not ever cross that border due to their idiotic laws. I could go on and on about that state - and I have no idea how any trucking company can make money there!

Thanks for posting this. And it’s good to see solid, investigative journalism for a change. Kudos to Sundance, the article’s author.

There’s usually a simple answer to these kind of questions. If one takes time to look.

People need to flood Gavin Newsom’s office with phone calls and emails demanding an emergency temporary waiving of the emission standards changes and any other COVID mandate regulations that are artificially restricting the ability of the country to truck in backlogged shipments.

This is a national emergency that is entirely self inflicted and should be suspended until critical supplies of food and other consumables are returned to normal levels.

Perhaps states could sue California for their lost sales tax revenue.

” Heavy-duty diesel trucks in California must meet 2010 engine emissions standards or use diesel particulate filters to reduce the diesel particulates emissions into the atmosphere by 85% or more.”

Not many “heavy duty diesel trucks” have an engine more than 10 years old. Even though they can run for over a million miles with rebuilds.

On October 16, 2020, the EPA reached a settlement agreement [DATA HERE] with California Air Resource Board (CARB) to shut down semi tractor rigs that were non-compliant with new California emission standards:

Nuremberg executions seems like a relevant and timely topic.

As I noted, the issue started becoming visible several years ago when the California Air Resource Board (CARB) announced the new environmental regulations. Several massive multinational corporations, with specifically in-tune supply and logistics operations, immediately recognized the issue they would face if 50+ percent of the trucking fleet would be blocked from entering California ports.

The corporate press will *never* report the reason for the supply chain breakdown as it goes against the global warming hysteria -or- it shows the real world effect of caving to the hysteria. They’d prefer to destroy the economy before doing anything sane.

California costs us all and it costs us a lot.

I ahve been watching the La Palma events hoping for the massive landslide so many are all atwitter about. Why? Because it could wipe out the East Coast. The only problem with that I see is that it does not get the West Coast as well. We would be better off without both of them.

The Democrats know what is causing the problem.

China won’t let them fix it.

California is an Enemy State, almost a nation in its own right. They act like it anyway.

Even if the answer is complicated, getting a truthful answer requires effort. The press and the government tend to hide the ball for political advantage. They also prefer a compliant and gullible audience.

California has only its voters to thank for the continuing crisis. You. Kept pretty boy Gavin back in his position. Now All that Chinese Crap will arrive just in time for next Christmas.

“Is California that polluted?”

The air in the Central Valley often has a AQI above 100 in the summer for weeks on.

So yeah, that is bad.

It’s a problem with air circulation more than anything else.

I see a violation of the Inter-state Commerce Clause.

California laws are having a detrimental impact on the economies of other states.

I wonder if anyone has the balls to sue?
