Bottom Line: The root cause of this problem is that under an agreement between the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resource Board, half of the trucks used to transport goods from the ports inland cannot be used because they no longer meet the emission standards.
Here is a link to the full story by “Sundance” at The Conservative Treehouse:
I have a close friend who is a high level scheduler for a nationwide trucker/transport service, and he says the whole problem is a lack of drivers. He said there’s not one single reason for the shortage, but there’s no end in sight, either. He says his job has turned into a nightmare, whereby he used to have stable routes and reliable pickup points, but now everything is ad hoc, with him having to make changes to the routes almost 24/7. The one good thing, for him, is his commissions have apparently gone up. A lot.
We here in Crazyfornia have known about the Trucking issue for a long time, I watched a couple friends run thier trucks until the very last day with every exemption and extension they could get, then they sold them in Arizona and Retired. My guess is that thousands did the same thing and there will NOT be anyone to replace them.
Hold on Tight kids, A big storm is coming.
Ok, the trucking issue makes sense. Now truckers have to buy new trucks and that’s very expensive. If half the truckers go out, all at once, and buy new trucks the price for each will be astronomical. That’s assuming the trucks are even available given the shortages.
So basically this is caused by the Democrat Party.
If ever a case was ripe for the federal courts to step in and overrule California under the elastic clause, this is it. What could be more interstate commerce than this?
Easy fix for that. Interstate truck exemption by the feds due to national security interests. Most trucks hauling from ports are Tier 4 compliant anyway. The bottle neck is the Longshoremen.
California needs to be eliminated as an entry port for containers going forward. If they won’t allow trucks to take the containers, California needs to be out of the supply chain.
I read that is a CA law about trucks. Not that I know everything
It’s part of it, not all of the story.
Thank you for posting this. I was about to post something about it myself, before I saw your comment. As always, when there is a screw-up, you can blame government. California is determined to ruin all of us with its insane leftist laws. I’m not sure there is anything we can do to stop it.
