Jon Gruden is a dinosaur. The heretofore Raiders coach is very old school, unrepentant, and of the toxic masculinity persuasion, no less.
As was swiftly evidenced, the world today has no place for such creatures. He is another speed bump on the road to a sorry gray future of banal mediocrity called erroneously “equity,” since mere equality falls so, far, far short of what we can stoop to achieve with just a little more force.
Gruden was fired when the NFL leaked private emails it discovered in another and totally separate vital investigation into potential political incorrectness -- this one into the Washington Football Team (Who says creativity is gone? That name captures everything: it is football, and it is a team, all rolled into one phrase: genius.) “workplace misconduct.” Gruden wasn’t at the Football Team, he just had a friend there that he emailed, way back in the Dark Ages when they were called (gasp) the Redskins.
This is akin to the “process crimes” the vaunted Department of “Justice” pursued for years in charging Trump affiliates for minor offenses having nothing to do with “Russian meddling.” Except we are now beyond having to concern ourselves with any actual crime.
In emails from ten or so years ago, some time before he took the Raiders HC job, he foolishly said what he thought when he revealed that he was against female refs in the NFL; gays in the NFL; called the then-NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue something unflattering and made what is called only “an insensitive remark” about a black player representative. He said these things in emails to one or more friends. But we got him.

He may have been paid to go away.
If so, Gruden was gutless enough to take the money and run.
Everyone is dancing around THIER narrative, bottom line he’s a white guy. Joyless reed still has a job and was forgiven as well as most who are of the right complextion
Joking about a black guy’s lips is going to get you fired. That’s out of bounds anywhere. Gruden thought he was a funny guy I guess.

There was a football player sitting in on the three-hour broadcast in Seattle. (Black guy). The radio guys asked him if he thought Gruden was atypical or if he just got caught.
I was pretty impressed with the player’s comments (paraphrased, iirc).
Player (P): “Well, everybody is going to have their own views on stuff. And it was his private emails - right?”
Radio guys (R): “But, do you think homophobic comments are common or what?”
P: “It isn’t like it used to be. Growing up if you didn’t play hard or weren’t tough enough, yeah you got called names. But folks are always going to say stuff that people are going to get mad at. See the coach talking to a player across the field... and the player goes storming out. Whatever the coach said upset him, but its not like we ask what he said.”
R: “So, if Gruden went back to coaching, and you were a young guy with a few years under your belt, would you go play for him?”
P: “No coach is going to be perfect. Even if it does show up in practices or whatever, you got to look at how good of a FOOTBALL coach he is, and does he get results on the field.”

What would his defense be?
It’s fun to watch the hypocrisy at work. Those who think that Colin Kaepernick got what he deserved are all up in arms over what happened to Gruden. Those who think that Kaepernick was unfairly treated are cheering on Gruden’s termination.
What a concept!!

I was pleasantly surprised by the player’s conversation. IIRC he said something like “You know, he’s just the one that got caught. We all have stuff that we think and talk about with our teammates and friends.”

I’m not sure what he wrote in his private emails. “Racist” might have been disagreeing with those that took a knee during the anthem.
Homophobic might have been that he thought Homosexuality is wrong.
But it doesn’t surprise me that someone with Patriotic and Biblical views are now considered a “dinosaur” by the MSM and much of society.
He resigned. I think because he just didn’t want to go through public debate and recriminations. And maybe he realized he no longer fits in the NFL.
They chose old Washington, the white man slave owner with the weird haircut?
