Two weeks before the parliament elections, Vladimir Putin converted $17 billion USD he received from the IMF in financial assistance for Russia’s fight with Covid, although Russia hasn’t done much - no lockdowns, no mask mandate, no damage to the economy, yay, free money - into local currency and paid retirees 10,000 rubles (120 euro) as a one-time payment to stimulate them voting for the ruling party United Russia.
Retirees observed that the price for the economy class laminated chipboard coffin recently rose to 10,000 rubles.
They wondered whether Putin hints that they should buy a coffin and stop collecting a pension from the state monthly?
It is believed that the elites were angered that Putin gave the money away instead of awarding them for their loyalty. They might secretly wish that this payment will truly become final.
