> Doubt anyone at the University of Michigan has the courage to stop this anti intellectual nonsense. <

This cowardliness is, unfortunately, everywhere.

A high school near me had an Indian wearing a full headdress as its symbol. It was a very noble representation. Well, one person complained about that. Just one person! And she wasn’t even a Native American. She was just a liberal busybody.

All hell broke loose. The school’s symbol was immediately changed. No more Indians! New school letterheads were ordered, and new school shirts were ordered. And the big beautiful Indian picture on the gym wall was painted over. All because of one silly, childish complaint.

That liberal busybody should have been told to just shut up and go away. But everyone in administration was too cowardly to do that. They all folded.

He goes from Othello to Julius Cesare’s “I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him” with his thorny diatribe against the students. That’s quite a feat.

Young folks with such extreme mental illnesses should be sent to the state insane asylum for treatment - not the state university

Definition of state university -/ a state insane asylum without mental treatment

He was born in China in 1955; when he was a child, the Red Guards took away his family piano.

I'm reminded of the documentary about violinist Isaac Stern's visit to China in 1979. In his first concerts in Shanghai, the main concert hall did not have a working piano to accompany him. In fact, nearly every piano in the city had been destroyed by Red Guards during the cultural revolution which had ended just a few years before. The local organizers found a decent working piano hidden away at a radio station near the city just in the nick of time before the concert.

His apology ought to have been more than sufficient, but his students were not appeased. Indeed, they reacted as if they had been traumatized by the experience.

About now, the poor prof is probably having flashbacks to the Maoist purges.

The snowflake game is to be offended by something; the more trivial the better. (1 point for the offense. You get 2 points for finding novel things to be offended by)

Then you go for the bonus round; trying to get the person fired from their job. (7 points)

The double-play is you get the head of a department or school fired. (15 points).

The lesson here for all? NEVER! NEVER! APOLOGIZE WHEN YOU BELIEVE YOU DID NOTHING ILLEGAL OR “WRONG!”

It's hard to believe that people haven't figured this out.

What fools we are for caring one bit what a bunch of snotty, immature, barely-out-of-diapers children say or think. They need to sit down, shut up, and do their homework. Then get a job.

We’re not fools for caring about it. These people are dangerous and would have us in ovens if they could.

"“Are you offended? Good! Twerps like you with tiny Woke minds need to be offended. A lot.” It’s better to go out in a blaze of glory than try to go along to get along."

Sorta like getting "woked" by reality instead of racist pap.

The definition of “unsafe space” sure has changed from when I was young.

May Reality slap these young folks up one side and down the other and soon for their own good.

I was told only the whites can be racist.
Something about whites hold all positions of power.
Maybe those who did the firing are white and fired this guy because he was not white. That must be it.

So, if you’re a professional academic you can be mobbed and wrecked over nothing by a pack of neurotic crybabies. When that happens, your cowardly colleagues and administrators will collude with the mob to end your academic career. It’s the “eat him first” instinct.

Plenty of people have known this for a long time. Now the knowledge of it is in mainstream consciousness. Over time, the brightest, most capable people will refuse to enter the profession. They will always have good alternatives. The academic programs will become the exclusive domain of untalented, conformist mediocrities. The talented, capable students will flock to the competent teachers and mentors they need in whatever venue or country supports them. They won’t be in the colleges and universities, either. At some point, the citizens will lose patience with being asked to financially reward the irrational self-destruction of the universities.

Our higher education system is inadequate and poorly adapted to the needs of a strong, productive society. Has been for a long time. If turning it over to weirdo ideologues and squalling misfits is the only way to burn it down, I guess I’ll take that. Pass the popcorn. I’m most interested in what will replace it when the debris is carted away.

Old song he should sing:

Touch up your Shakespeare, start quoting him now
Touch up your Shakespeare and the women you will wow
Just declaim a few lines of Othello
And they’ll think you’re a helluva fellow....

We had all the fun. These morons need to get a life.

A Merv Griffin Show had him without proper preparation by his staff as he was told for the first time by two cast members promoting it that there was about to be an all black remake of the Wizard of Oz called The Wiz. Griffin’s face fell, then he got slightly angry and said “No. No, you can’t do that. You’d take a classic that can’t be improved upon and ruin it by making it all black?” I remember he wasn’t kidding or satirizing anything-—he was shocked and mad.

We all have that decades long political correctness filter (maybe not some NFL coaches?) to shut our mouths and say “Oh, dear, oh golly, how lovely that it. It’s marvelous.”

Can you imagine what their future marriages are going to be like if they are this petty and vindictive?
Have their other professors given a shred of thought to what kind of abusive parents they might be creating with their hateful indoctrination?

Should have screened film versions of minstrel shows or Amos &Andy and watched heads explode.
