Most of India's coal-fired power plants have critically low levels of coal inventory at a time when the economy is picking up and fueling electricity demand.
Coal accounts for around 70% of India's electricity generation.
A potential power crisis would likely have an immediate impact on India's nascent economic recovery which is being led by industrial activity instead of services, according to Kunal Kundu, India economist at Societe Generale.

If truly free markets existed, the price would rise, coal production would increase and shippers would compete to deliver coal to Chinese and Indian ports to collect hard currency and profit. Government regulations have prevented the process from working. Suspect the power companies are forced to charge a low set rate for electricity and don’t have the money to pay for coal.
I find it hard to worry about people that require heat
that purposely eliminate the means to produce it.

The CCP cut coal production to correct an oversupply problem which is typical for the CCP : fix a non-problem by creating a new one (a tactic the Biden regime is practicing). Now the weather is so rainy that some 60, I think it said, Chinese coal mines had to shut, plus bridges and rail used to move the coal were washed out.
