“Vermont has the lowest covid death rate of all 50 states.”
Nothing to see here then; I’ll move along.
I've seen idiot predict two million deaths due to the vaccines. That's crazy.
There are serious side effects from the vaccines in well under 0.01% of those that have received them.
So did those of us in Indiana
There were, according to the CDC, 24,277 more deaths involving COVID in the U.S. this past month (i.e., September 2021) then there had been in September 2020 (at which time, of course, no one had been vaccinated). This is an increase of 126%. Only in six states (and the District of Columbia) was there a decrease in the number of deaths involving COVID this past September compared to September 2020.
Some selected examples:
Alabama saw a 165% increase.
California saw a 42% increase.
Florida saw a 70% increase.
Georgia saw a 147% increase.
Maine saw an 854% increase (i.e., 13 deaths in September 2020 and then 124 in September 2021 ... small numbers).
New York saw a 549% increase (again, relatively small numbers in play, although larger than Maine's).
Texas saw 144% increase.
While there may be various reasons for this when one drills down into the data, one thing is perfectly clear: in September 2020, no one in the U.S. had been vaccinated, whereas last month, as you yourself observe, many millions had been.
These, of course, are mass population-level data. But they are what they are. What is the basis for the assertion that the "vaccine is clearly a life-saver for the vulnerable"?
I mean, there may well be a case to be made there, but I don't myself know what it would be.
And, how many of those deaths were because of Covid or deaths of someone with Covid but caused by something else?
How many more deaths would there have been if not for the vaccine?
Those are the relevant questions.
But, there is no doubt that, according to the CDC, far more unvaccinated people are dying than vaccinated people.
According to a report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), unvaccinated individuals are 11 times more likely to die from Covid-19 than those who are fully inoculated, reports NPR’s Vanessa Romo. The study, published in the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) on September 10, also found vaccinated individuals were almost five times less likely to get infected with the virus and ten times less likely to end up hospitalized due to complications from the virus.
The CDC. The same agency you just presented statistics from.
IT ONLY SHOWS THAT GEERT WAS RIGHT
It only shows what renowned virologists have predicted is coming to pass. Not wanting to change directions, by using other known and working means of prevention would indicate either plain ignorance or intentions of keeping this infection going which in a roundabout way, sorry to say; would serve to cull the population. The more you vax the worse it gets. Perhaps, using that come hell and high water approach, insisting and forcing these vaccines upon people was the whole idea all along.
Geert Vanden Bossche, DMV, Ph.D along with many other renowned virologists warned, along with Dr. Robert Malone the pioneer of the mRNA vaccine. Not forgetting Dr. Zelenko who successfully treated many patients with alternate treatments and takes a very dim view of these questionable vaccines.
By: Geert Vanden Bossche, DMV, Ph.D It is critical to understand that a rapid decline in viral infectivity rates that is not achieved by natural infection but merely results from expedited mass vaccination campaigns will only delay abrupt propagation of emerging, fully vaccine-resistant viral variants and hence, only delay the occurrence of a high wave of morbidity and mortality.
If this happens to be true and comes to pass we will see one mutation after another show up. Some of them may not amount to much, while others will show up which will be difficult to deal with, and quite possible cause many casualties..
sanguine
And because the WH doesn’t consider this situation bad enough, they are going to send thousands of untaxed and untested Afghan refugees to Vermont. Never let a crisis to to waste.
It hasn't worked because you haven't had enough of it, yet./sarc

Those are the relevant questions.

I'm much less interested in what the CDC, as a political institution, may represent as I am what the data it collects may show. I had, before I retired, interacted with the CDC. Let's just say I have some appreciation of where they are coming from.
As for your "relevant questions," the CDC data are, presumably, an apples-to-apples comparison. The CDC defines "death involving COVID" using this language: "Deaths with confirmed or presumed COVID-19, coded to ICD–10 code U07.1." So when you ask how many of these deaths were "deaths of someone with Covid but caused by something else?," I find the query somewhat beside the point. Rather, I presume that whatever the term meant to the CDC in September 2021 is what it meant to the CDC in September 2020. And since we're talking mass population-level data here, I'm not concerned with any stray outliers.
As for "how many more deaths would there have been if not for the vaccine?," here I think you've missed the point. There were some 24,277 more deaths in September 2021, when millions had been vaccinated, compared to September 2020 when no one had been vaccinated. Given this, I might well counter by asking how many fewer deaths would there have been last month had no one been vaccinated? I dunno, that strikes me as least as logical and legitimate a question as that which you've posed.
It seems to me that, from your perspective, a more plausible hypothesis would be that, on balance, the country was more "locked down" in September 2020 than it was in September 2021, and that it is this "opening up" that accounts for the increase in deaths involving COVID. While plausible, I'm not sure that this is a testable hypothesis, so I don't know what to do with it. It would, however, provide some comfort to those who take on faith -- and on the basis of the CDC's self-serving representations -- that the vaccines reduce the risk of death.
Meanwhile, I might counter with the observation that it is reasonable to assume -- indeed, this is almost ontologically true -- that the "most vulnerable" to COVID (i.e., the elderly and those with multiple-comorbidities) succumbed to COVID throughout 2020, at which time there were no vaccines. This being the case, wouldn't it be surprising to find that, in September 2021, when these surviving "most vulnerable" are those with the highest rate of vaccination, are dying at a greater rate than when vaccines were not available?
Again, just to restate the obvious, my purpose in focusing on the data that the CDC faithfully collects and makes publicly available, as opposed to what political operatives within CDC may be saying, is that the CDC lies about matters like this. It has a very long track record in this regard. I'm surprised, really, by how much faith people who might otherwise represent themselves as being "conservative" and suspicious of "big government," place in the representations made by entities like the CDC and the FDA, much less make decisions related to their own health and physical well-being on that basis. Such faith is very badly misplaced.
At the same time, the CDC career staff, good and diligent civil servants that they are, laboriously compile raw data like they've always done. From it, it's sometimes possible for the inquisitive to start drawing their own conclusions of where the truth may lie.
Get ready Vermont,Biden is dumping tons of Afghan turds onto the green state.
Then, why isn't it lying about men that have sex with men spreading disease like wildfire?
There is no evidence whatsoever that the CDC is creating phony data.
We live a totally communist society if that is true.
But, if the CDC is lying does that mean Trump, DeSantis and ever Republican politician is about the vaccine?
DeSantis got vaccinated and has encouraged Floridians to get the vaccine? Is he part of the government propaganda campaign to commit mass genocide via the Covid vaccines?
Paranoia, the destroyer.
How do you know that if you believe the CDC is lying and making up numbers?
You can't quote the CDC and reject the fact its said that tue unvaccinated are 11 times more likely to die? It's blatant and incoherent hypocrisy.
What a ridiculous straw man. I've never claimed that lockdown works. They don't. I favor the Swedish approach and believe herd immunity as the ultimate answer to Covid.
But, you're a paranoid fool if you won't acknowledge Covid is the worst virus since the Spanish flu and it's killed hundreds of thousands of Americans. It's a fact.
And, the vulnerable are best served by getting the vaccine just as Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis have said.
Highest vaccination, highest hospitalizations, highest deaths.
Sick of all those calling disagreement with SHOTS (they are not vaccines!) anti-vaxers. For Pete’s sake, stop treating anyone who disagrees as stupid idiots — stop doing what we hate being done to us.
