CALGARY - With the provincial health restrictions currently in place, prohibiting unvaccinated people from gathering in homes, some families may be faced with tough decisions and conversations about how to deal with members who haven’t yet received their shots. Alice Potkins says she will be abiding by the rules and have a small gathering with her brother’s family. They are all vaccinated so she wouldn’t have to exclude anyone but says if a member wasn’t, she wouldn’t know how to handle it.
“That’s a tough one isn’t it?” said Potkins.
“It depends on how close I am to that family member but I like them all, I love them all so what do you do?”
'GIVE THEM A BOOT'
Larry Krause was on his way out of the grocery store picking up last-minute Thanksgiving Day items and says he would be strict with unvaccinated family members wanting to join for dinner.
“I’d give them a boot and say go get it (a vaccination).”
Vardit Ravitsky a bioethicist with the University of Montreal says many families might be faced with this dilemma. However, she says having restrictions in place versus not having them, like some jurisdictions in Canada, might be beneficial and encourage people to have important discussions. Ravitsky says the restrictions gives family members a reason to speak with loved ones and friends who aren’t vaccinated or provide an excuse to not have unvaccinated people over if they feel uncomfortable.
“I think we're all struggling with how to not deepen this social divide while keeping ourselves safe,” she said.
“We're dancing a very complex dance here and in a way being judgmental, but trying to sound still respectful of people's choices.”

Up to two households can be inside with a maximum of 10 people.
“who haven’t yet received their shots”
You going to strap them down?
Simple solution: Nobody rat.
DADT
My family and friends vaccinated or not are always welcome at my table in any numbers that wish to come.
Tough decisions my Ass!
None of their freaking business!
(Thanksgiving is Monday, October 11th up there in Canadaia)
Vardit Ravitsky has deeper problems than just navigating Thanksgiving dinner. Her name, for starters.
The world has lost it’s mind.
Amen
I don’t know what it is with my family, but nobody gives a rat’s rectum about the vaccination status of any member.
If you’re vaccinated you can get Covid from someone who isn’t. Why don’t liberals get this? Ain’t rocket science.
CAN YOU SEE MY TWO MIDDLE FINGERS?
So they are afraid the “vaccines” don’t work?
Last year there was no vax. Many people got together for holidays. The numbers went up BECAUSE they go up seasonally. The rise was blamed on the holidays because they are Christian holidays.
This year there’s the vax, and the left wants the unvaxxed kept out of family meals. The arrogance of those people is unacceptable. They cannot put themselves in the place of an elderly person for whom isolation is death. In fact, they want the old folks to croak and make room for the new replacements.
To anybody who tells me I can’t see family, I have these words: Let’s Go Brandon!
How long before posting Let’s Go Brandon! is investigated by the Hoch-Gestapo?
Both sides can play the “you’re excluded” game on the same (vax) criteria.
Same justification too - for your safety, vaccinated people should not come here.
Stuffing or potatoes?
No Thanksgiving dinner for me means no Christmas/Birthday gifts for the vaccinated family members.
