WASHINGTON — The White House on Friday formally blocked an attempt by former President Donald Trump to withhold documents from Congress related to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, setting up a legal showdown between the current and former presidents over executive privilege.
In a letter to the National Archives obtained by NBC News, White House Counsel Dana Remus rejected an attempt by Trump’s attorneys to withhold documents requested by the House Select Committee regarding the then-president’s activities on Jan. 6, writing that “President Biden has determined that an assertion of executive privilege is not in the best interests of the United States, and therefore is not justified as to any of the documents.”
“These are unique and extraordinary circumstances,” Remus added. “Congress is examining an assault on our Constitution and democratic institutions provoked and fanned by those sworn to protect them, and the conduct under investigation extends far beyond typical deliberations concerning the proper discharge of the President’s constitutional responsibilities. The constitutional protections of executive privilege should not be used to shield, from Congress or the public, information that reflects a clear and apparent effort to subvert the Constitution itself.”
White House press secretary Jen Psaki had telegraphed the move two weeks ago, saying President Joe Biden had already concluded that it would not be appropriate to assert executive privilege related to Jan. 6 requests. But White House officials added that they had not yet done so related to requests from the Select Committee, and would make any determinations on a case-by-case basis.

Knowing that all bets will be off after this, the democrats seem to be signalling that they don’t ever intend to relinquish power.
Maybe he doesn't want them withheld and, knowing that all previous presidents kept the documents of presidents before them classified, he asked Joetato to withhold his knowing that Corn Pop would do what he thinks will hurt Trump.
Too big of a stretch?
I think this is likely. If they release it, then there won’t be anything there for them to go after (unless, of course, evidence has been planted and the report changed).
If the White House withholds the report, then it looks like Biden is hiding something.
Either way, this is a win for a Trump.

I hope you’re right, but videos can be altered and look real. The election had vast amounts of fraud and deception for the past several elections.
We have a president who seems to have cheated his way in without any problems along the way, so I put nothing past these guys.
I don’t think videos would be part of the presidential records and the Trump team would have been responsible for creating the documents.
So getting them in the public sphere?
That helps. Where are the records kept? I mean with this bunch who knows whats stopping them from opening them and doing whatever they want? It seems to be how they operate.

That is naive thinking when you are dealing in the political realm.
Anti Trump partisans will only paint a negative narrative, while withholding evidence that supports Trump and Trump supporters.
Trump also doesn’t make it easy for them by fighting every one of their political maneuvers.
The funny thing is, they tried to frame Trump as this out of
control idiot who lied about a deep state swamp, and what
the Communists were up to.
They stole an election, and have now not only proved him
right, but are going far beyond what he charged them with.
This is a bit different from a bad policy. Remember, republic before person. There are a lot of protect the person going on here.
