The Department of Energy on Friday announced a target of the equivalent of five million homes powered by community solar energy by 2025.
The target would save $1 billion and contribute to administration goals of fully renewable electricity by 2035, according to the department.
“Community solar is one of the most powerful tools we have to provide affordable solar energy to all American households, regardless of whether they own a home or have a roof suitable for solar panels,” Energy Secretary Jennifer M. Granholm said in a statement. “Achieving these ambitious targets will lead to meaningful energy cost savings, create jobs in these communities, and make our clean energy transition more equitable.”

Some clever guy actually invented a Political Rhetoric Generator. It will randomly generate as many important-sounding political phrases as you want. Here’s one:
I will not stand for an America where internet pornographers and porn stars can destroy our right to police the world.

I agree, I worked for a company that had a huge subcontract building one in CA. It ruins the landscape and destroyed the fragile desert life. Yet the ecofreakes will stop farmers for a snail darter.
it is an interesting concept, but forcing homeowners to invest, even as taxpayers, seems immoral imho, especially considering the allegations that making new solar panels and disposing of used solar panels damage the environment.
Terrible. Poisonous. Destroying the nature and the farmland.
Prepare, if these dumbasses gets their way, about 200% of the USA will look like that.
So many of the gorgeous vistas in America have been completely ruined forever by wind machines. The infernal things are everywhere.
The Columbia River Gorge used to be magnificent in its beauty. Now, for half of the length of the gorge, all you see is wind machines.
Today wind and solar make about 3% of our electricity. If we were to hit 50%, there would be TENS OF MILLIONS of these machines all over the landscape and all of Arizona and New Mexico would be covered with solar cells.
This is utter insanity.
about 200% of the USA

sorry, fat fingers, only 20%.
P.S it would be great if we could change our posts. I have really fat fingers!
I know....the hills are already full of the wind turbines......now the solar panels will surely impact that land as well.
Well worth the watch, loaded with great information:

The hills of my hometown are full of these wind turbans.....awful sight indeed. I couldn’t believe how many there were throughout the area.
People on the hills say these things are loud and they constantly see dead birds around them. Heck people use to go up there to get away from the noise and just enjoy nature.....you can’t do that now.
Will they glow in the dark?
Community Solar, no matter where it is tried = Winter blackouts-solar energy does NOT provide power reliably on a large scale-it works when you have individual homes with their own panels and batteries providing energy for themselves-like in rural areas like this where people know how to live off-grid and not waste resources. People in cities-other than maybe in Alaska-have no concept of “real” energy conservation-they insist the house needs to be heated to 80, all the TVs and other electronics on, etc-so large scale solar-or wind, for that matter-will not work there...
Thank God I’ll probably be dead by 2025.
“And now we must have an “equitable” energy transition? WTF is that?”
That must mean that certain racial classes of people on public assistance who don’t pay for their electricity today are going to be included in the 5 million homes who won’t be paying for their electricity (or any cost associated with building the infrastructure) of these solar indoctrination villages.
Another experiment that will fail. Just like public housing.
Mark my word.
Another give-away to leftists - only they will benefit.
Leftists need givernment subsidized development and construction of these potemkin villages using fossil fuel energy. Billions of $$$ will be taken from working people so leftists can live in “clean-energy houses” without having to pay the actual costs associated with building and maintaining.
But despite the failure of public housing, it is eternal .... it can never die.
We know ya don't get all them numbers and neutrons thingies, but here's how ya generate boocoo BTUs...
In Arizona, Valley of the Sun no less
You can already install complete solar systems that will remove you completely from the grid. You need a roof covered with cells and a battery room to store the energy. The power company is required to buy your excess power, at wholesale rates of course. But it is possible. I had a cabin with a large cell and it was enough to charge a golf cart battery and provided enough power for our usage on weekends. Some lights and a DVD player/TV, etc. With a few more cells and batteries it’ll do pretty well. Could run a small refrigerator. A generator for times when you went a couple of days without sun. There are many places where this system would work.

Hey joe, tough way to make 10%
Why don’t you just have hunter teach you to paint crappy pictures ?
( finger painting is easier than reading a teleprompter Joe , just sayin’.)
.
How much the total cost for the night-time battery storage? Will it be lead-acid? If so, there is a environmental cost for the mining, production and transportation of such storage.
