A young girl eager to return to school needs a nasal swab test. Her Mom says 30 minutes after returning home, she was bleeding from her nose…and an eye. Hospital staff allegedly stated this is “normal.”

Incompetence! There is absolutely no need to have routine testing of non-sick children! It really is done primarily in an attempt to keep the panic going.

Could be. But it IS the internet, I’d beware before other collaboration comes out. Anybody can take a photo and make up a story about it.
If she had worn a mask, the school staff would not have seen all the bleeding.
This is/was never a need to stick swabs halfway into brains.
If someone is diseased and spewing contagion you have both symptoms and more readily available samples that don’t require such suspect probing.
I would not have posted my daughter’s photo online that way.
We already know what a bloody nose looks like.
The swab is usually done with a long Q-Tip like device.
The medic is supposed to contact the mucous membrane in the sinus cavity. Some medics may forget just how thin and delicate that mucous membrane can be, especially in a child.
The Mom’s reaction might add to any trauma for the kid.
I’m sorry for the little girl going through this experience, but she will recover. If one is prone to hemmoraging, you should be extra careful who is allowed to stick that ‘Popsicle Stick’ up your nose cavity. Tell the nurse before.
They broke the membrane in the nose that protects a person from illnesses. No going back.
Time to homeschool.

Here’s her facebook page (same photo). She did have a recent photo deleted from her page. But the comments say stuff like “What beautiful girls!” “”Great smiles” Etc.
She also works for a healthcare group, which if she had written the memo she would have mentioned that. “I know in our group only trained.....”
Not to say it couldn’t happen, but I’m pretty sure it didn’t happen to her.
Lawyer up. They live for this situation.

That’s perfectly normal if you use a switchblade for the swab.
