Ranking Member Mike Lee on September Jobs Report
U.S. Senate ^ | Oct 8 | Sen. Mike Lee

Posted on 10/08/2021 8:14:28 AM PDT by RandFan

WASHINGTON—Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), Ranking Member of the Joint Economic Committee, made the following statement on this morning’s jobs report issued by the U.S. Department of Labor:

“This month’s addition of 194,000 jobs underscores the continued uncertainty holding back our economic recovery. America’s families are feeling the power of their paycheck shrink day by day. Workers are struggling to find jobs that fit their skills, and businesses are struggling to find willing workers.”

“Unfortunately, tax increases and runaway spending will not result in more jobs or better pay for Americans. These policies will likely have the opposite effect, fueling continued inflation that risks undermining Americans’ ability to build for the future.”

“Our economy is still recovering. Now is one of the worst times for massive new tax hikes and inflationary spending. Instead, Congress should pursue policies that allow more Americans to get back to work.”

The Joint Economic Committee is Congress’s bicameral economic research center and home of the Social Capital Project, led by Ranking Member Mike Lee.

What a lame, temperate statement. But it isn’t unexpected from a squish.

He has a lot of gall to be talking about jobs for Americans, considering his constant working against those Americans and their jobs for years to line his own and “friends” of his pocket’s.

GOP (except DeSantic and Abbot) won’t do ANYTHING about the mandates.

They’re in China’s pocket, just like the Democrats.

It was really almost 400k jobs in the private sector, where it matters. Govt lost 171k jobs, bringing the total number down.

Also, it’s a draft report and every draft report for months has been revised upwards. Also, the unemployment dropped from 5.1% to 4.8% which is pre-pandemic level.

Nothing wrong with this jobs report, and that’s why the market didn’t sell off and interest rates went up, not down on the news.

Wages up 4.6% so far this year, .6% last month, more good news for workers.

When it comes to the economy I follow the numbers, not the politics.

It should get worse when all of the people who got laid off or fired for not getting the vaccine get subtracted from the total.
