The past six weeks in Texas have been hellish for pregnant women seeking abortions.
The decision by a federal judge in Austin on Wednesday night to pause enforcement of Texas’ ultrarestrictive anti-abortion law, S.B. 8, offered them a reprieve — if only temporary.
The conservative-tilted U.S. Supreme Court is planning to hear arguments in December about a separate restrictive abortion law in Mississippi, which activists fear could lead to the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Though the ruling in Texas is welcome, the inevitability of an appeal seeking to overturn that decision and the looming Mississippi case are casting a pall on the latest news.
It’s uncertain whether abortions will pick up again in the state, given the consequences providers could face if the law is reinstated. And the measured reactions from defenders of reproductive rights signal they know what we all know: There’s still a storm on the horizon.
Take the White House’s reaction, for example. Press secretary Jen Psaki released a statement Wednesday calling the ruling “an important step forward toward restoring the constitutional rights of women across the state of Texas.” But, she said, “the fight has only just begun, both in Texas and in many states across this country where women’s rights are currently under attack.”

Abortion isn’t a right, it is a wrong.
The ancient hipocratic oath for doctors included a vow not to perform abortions.
How can abortions be kept “safe”, when it results in death every single time?
There are laws against cruelty to animals. But we know babies in the womb feel pain at some point, but we do nothing to administer pain relief before executing them.
“Though the ruling in Texas is welcome...” Way to hide your blatant bias Ja”han. [S]
[[The past six weeks in Texas have been hellish for pregnant women seeking abortions]]
Have been hellish for all those poor women looking to murder their unborn children? Gosh, those poor poor women. (Their lives haven’t been early as “hellish” as the poor unborn child’s short life Will be, as they will be ripped limb from limb, alive, and sucked into a vacuum while ferociously trying to evade the pain. So cry us a river you poor poor women awaiting the go signal from sick individuals who care nothing for the xanctity of life, to resume Murdering your unborn children.
There is no hipocratic oath anymore, it has morphed into the hypocritical oath. Just look at how doctors are refusing to operate or see patients who haven’t submitted to the vaccine e demands yet.
The idiot answers itself in its second sentence - “it’s only temporary.” They know this is getting overruled like the other attempts lately.
Because they know a federal judge in Austin isn’t going to be the final arbiter of the question, most likely.
The same reason that people are yelling “Let’s Go Brandon” The people who push this know that the current is against them and that it is going to get stronger. They think we will eventually fold, but there is no reason for us to. SO that day is coming when several someone’s will break, people will die, and it will be on. I just don’t know when our “North Bridge” incident will occur.
It doesn’t feel like it because they will continue their fight to take the life of babies.....they’re as much a death cult as ISIS and just as brutal in what they do on these babies in and out of the womb. They’re sadistic killers.
This freudian slip underscores the hedonist/satanist foundations of the pro-choice facet of the left.
did they use the word women?
I thought it was birthing humans.
“Texas’ ultrarestrictive anti-abortion law...”
I bet some MSNBC editor sent the writer a memo saying the proper term is “antichoicerights” law.
It is not a victory because the ruling was by a D judge instead of an R judge which are different and is recognized by everyone but Roberts.
Hellish for women seeking abortions? What about the babies they do manage to murder?
The TX district judge is a speed bump. SCOTUS has already given abortion powers to the states. So you can kill any baby any time in NY, but you can’t in TX.
"The past six weeks in Texas have been hellish for pregnant women seeking abortions"
What's it been like for the babies, Ja'han? (seen in 2021, and 2016)
What is the Freudian slip?
