Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is facing criticism after congratulating a Korean American judicial nominee on Wednesday, commenting on the “hard work ethic” of “you and your people.”

“What you said about your Korean background reminds me a lot of what my daughter-in-law of 45 years has said: ‘If I learned anything from Korean people, it’s a hard work ethic. And how you can make a lot out of nothing,’ ” the 88-year-old told judicial nominee Lucy Koh on Wednesday.

“So I congratulate you and your people,” he added.

Koh thanked the senator following the comments.

Grassley, who is running for reelection, garnered some criticism from some who argued that the comments were prejudicial and "harmful."

Rep. Judy Chu (D-Calif.), the first Chinese American woman to be elected to Congress and also the chairwoman of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, called out Grassley’s remarks as “harmful” and prejudiced.

Grassley should double down and repeat that he finds Koreans to be honorable and hard-working people and that he finds the comments from the Chinese woman to be “inscrutable”.

Grassley oversees the USPTO and enables
their corruption against the American people.
over and over reports went to him, and were deep sixed
to protect the transfer of US inventions to
other countries.

Grassley’s treasonous (GOP as usual)
actions slam Americans with the effective:
“You Americans so lose, both you and your people. FU.”

He should have replied to the (D), “I expected such a response, since your people tend to be quarrelsome, back-biting collectivists” and watched her head explode.

Absolutely understand what he said. It was complimentary. Everyone who pays attention knows that, typically, Americans of Asian descent are hardworking and high achieving. Sorry if the rest of us don’t stand up quite as well in comparison. I can’t keep this straight. Are we supposed to notice race or are we to be colorblind? Why do we have to fill out our race on questionnaires? Is White the only race we should notice so we can call them privileged oppressors? Good grief, let’s quit allowing these people to divide us. By far most Americans are similar because of their beliefs and desires, not because of their race.

In regards to Grassley, here’s his timeline in public service...

1959 - 1975: Iowa House of Representatives

1975 - 1981: US House of Representatives

1981 - Current: US Senate

Let’s put it this way - I was in high school when he was first elected to the US Senate. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE should ever hold public office for that long. It doesn’t matter if you have an R or D behind your name.

Well, of course liberals will not like this. They are racist against Asians. Any complimentary statement on the benefits of hard work are against their credo, too.

As to Chu — there is always one in the basket.
