I actually got that info from another news source regarding the Strike.

My bad for not running the numbers myself. I got lazy.

I know during the height of the pandemic the 50% or so of Walmart workers staying and working got massive amounts of O.T.

Some ended up paying off cars and a few their house.

Walmart was handing out we love you bonus checks and tons of overtime was available.

>An average of 120,000 a year???!

An ‘average’ means nothing, median would be more telling - one ceo making a billion a year and everyone else make $15/hour would skew ‘the average’ quite a bit.

I have no idea what the median is at Kellog, but doubt its anywhere near $120K

Yes. The average wage is misleading. The median wage would actually be informative.

Every morning I eat a bowl of Kellog’s “Raisin Bran Crunch
with oatmeal clusters to which I add blueberries and diced
strawberries with skim milk. Very good lots of raisins and
healthier than other breakfasts. I am 87 years old

If I made $120,000 I would not say BOO about going on strike. That is a great wage, make the money when you can.
Union leaders will always collect a check while the workers will get fired.

” And FWIW, breakfast cereal has an enormous profit margin.That stuff is priced so crazy expensive considering what is actually inside the box.”

At an average pay and benefits of $120,000 per employee the high price makes sense now. F’ the Unions.

Kellog wants their workers to be able to afford the products they make.

I disagree. They're thinking like Henry Ford.

Budweiser employees (last I knew) got ten cases per month.

In the mid 80's I was a contractor working at the AB plant in NH. They had kegs on tap in the employee break rooms!

The employees would go up to the break room, play a hand or two of Cribbage, have a cold one and then go back to work. I doubt it is the same now...OSHA or corporate policy change...lawsuits...who knows.

I make nearly that after yearly bonus. But not quite that. I need to make corn flakes, apparently.

Me too Laz, and I’m a pure contractor (W-2, though, so I get benefits!). Been doing this (and side work!) for 3 years, and I can push myself and get to that $120,000 or so...

“My bad for not running the numbers myself. I got lazy.”

Been there, done that as well myself. Once you remember that high school kids that didn’t like doing story problems in math then went on to become journalism majors in college, you start getting to the root of our current problems ;-).

Good. Overly-processed and packed with SUGAR ‘cereal’ is one of the WORST things you can eat, and one of the WORST things to feed to your children. No wonder kids are fat, sugar-high, then crashing, and dumb as a box of Rice Krispies!

This is the cr@p Kellog’s produces; usually EXTRUDED then baked or fried. Blech!

https://www.kelloggs.com/en_US/ourfoods.html

They’re the ones pushing for all the FAKE MEAT products via ‘Morningstar Farms.’ ‘Farms,’ my Aunt Fanny! ‘Morningstar Laboratories’ is more like it! Wokety-Woke-Woke-WOKE!

*SHUDDER*

Whoever writes their ‘copy’ does a convincing job, though. PLEASE don’t fall for it!

‘Better Days Debut’

“The Kellogg Company announced its new Kellogg’s® Better Days global commitment to help end hunger and create Better Days for 3 billion people by the end of 2030.

The company will do so by:

Nourishing 1 billion people with its foods, delivering nutrients of need and addressing hidden hunger;

Feeding 375 million people in need through food donations and expanded child feeding programs;

Nurturing the planet as it supports 1 million farmers, especially women smallholders and workers;

Conserving natural resources all along the value chain, from responsibly sourcing ingredients and reducing food waste, to providing recyclable, reusable or compostable packaging;

Encouraging employee volunteerism, ensuring an ethical supply chain and supporting diversity and inclusion;

And living its founder’s values by advocating on behalf of hungry children everywhere and engaging 1.5 billion people to help address the important issue of food security.

This next-generation commitment builds on Kellogg’s long history of corporate citizenship and replaces the previous Breakfast for Better Days™ program. In the last 10 years alone, Kellogg has provided 3 billion servings of food to people in need, supported 329,000 farmers through climate-smart agriculture programs and reduced greenhouse gas emissions to the equivalent of taking 317 million miles off the road.”

https://www.kelloggs.com/en_US/sustainability/better-days-debut.html

The whole reason ‘cereal’ was ‘invented’ in the first place (Corn Flakes) was due to CULTIST Dr. John Harvey Kellogg to feed the inmates at his Sanitarium!

I’m doing my share as a home gardener.

I usually look at my harvest and tell mr. mm that I sure am glad that we don’t have to live on what I grow.

I think this year, we just might be able to do it. And I’m still learning and fine tuning my gardening skills, including laying out the plan and deciding hat best to grow.
