Here’s a story for ya. Kirsten Power’s husband, Robert Draper, is a writer for the New York Times. He emailed me that he was writing a book about the future of the Republican Party and wanted to talk to me. Apparently because my County is one of the most Conservative Counties in the Country (78% to Trump) and the City I represent was one of the last stops Trump made before the election (Bullhead City). He also said that I appeared to be a “free thinker.” I asked him why he thought I was a free thinker and he answered because I once went up against my Congressman Paul Gosar, arguably one of the most Conservative members of Congress. (Many years ago I believe Congressman Gosar was on the wrong side of an issue that was going to hurt my County. It was a long battle and the next election year I campaigned for the guy who ran against him. Of course Gosar won. It took me a while, but Paul and I are ok now.) ANYWAY, I said to the guy, why on Earth would I want to read a book about the future of my Party through the eyes of a liberal? I have learned that nothing good ever comes out of granting a liberal an interview. I stopped years ago after being butchered by the AZ Republic after agreeing to allow Lavoy Finnicum’s family to name a street in their community after their beloved son. A STREET!
So I tell the guy this and he goes into this thing of how he is not liberal, he’s an independent. I said, listen, I just don’t trust you. Don’t call me again.
