Taiwan's foreign minister is warning of war with China and is asking Austraila for aid with intelligence, Australian Broadcasting reports.
The news comes after the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China flew dozens of sorties into Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) beginning on Friday.
On ABC's "China Tonight," Taiwan's Foreign Minister Joseph Wu said that if the PLA launches an actual strike, Taiwan is ready to repel it.
"The defense of Taiwan is in our own hands, and we are absolutely committed to that," Wu said.
The statement comse after Taiwan sharply criticized China on Saturday after Beijing marked the founding of the People's Republic of China with the largest ever incursion by the Chinese air force into the island's air defense zone.
Taiwan, a democratically governed island that is claimed by China, has complained for more than a year of repeated missions near it by China's air force, often in the southwestern part of its air defense zone close to the Taiwan-controlled Pratas Islands.

At a time like this we have no President. Bad timing. But any day with a Dem in office is a bad day.
Aren’t they worried they will be another notch on the gun belt of Sheriff Joe? He can talk pretty tough off a teleprompter unless he gets confused and wanders around the room looking for a waffle cone.
Whatever anyone else here says, I do not want my wife or myself or any other good Americans to die in a nuclear or EMP war over Taiwan. Or Afghanistan. Or anywhere else.
The major question is will or will not the people of Taiwan be willing to fight and sacrifice to maintain their freedom and independence. They know that the US will not risk war with China to aid them significantly. If they do have the resolve to fight, then the cost to China may be so great that a real attack will not happen. Very much doubt the Chinese despite their huge military investment and the emotional feeling that Taiwan is part of China, will attack, risk unacceptable casualties or outright failure.
Chinese will, I believe, move against Quemoy and Matsun now the Kinmen Islands, and gauge world reaction before moving on Taiwan, or as I remember it from elementary school, Formosa.
If Taiwan is attacked I suspect we may see Japan, Australia and India becoming involved. If Japan and Australia come to Taiwan’s aid we will be compelled to reciprocate.
China is really after TSM which means they would corner the market in computer chips. That cannot be allowed to happen.

In 2018 there was a meeting in Taipei between representatives of the USAF (not in uniform) and the Taiwan AF. TAF asked what the USAF wanted them to do in the event of war with China. The USAF representative replied, “Stay out of the way.”

The Chinese are not stupid. There will be no “D-Day” Landings. They will be more subtle, more Asian. Think Pearl Harbor not Operation Barbarossa. But, when it comes, and it will while Biden is President, It will be fast and unexpected. It will be more Trojan Horse than Desert Storm. It will come when we are distracted—by a terrorist attack, maybe Japan too. It will use Chinese spies and a “fifth Column” of traitors in Taiwan’s Government (and in the US Gov. as well). How will it play out? My Ouija Board says the following. 1) An incident will kick it off with China playing the victim—an airliner shot down? Ship sank? etc...
2) A Military response will be attacked and the Chinese will have to defend themselves (even if the Chinese have to attack their own people). 3) Then a “revolt” against “Hooligans” in the Taiwan Government—with a mock Civil War.
4) Then comes the Chinese Peace keepers to establish order after swearing to let them keep their rights (like they did Hong Kong). The troops fly in and land and it will be over in 48 hours.

It will start as a naval exercise and will turn into a total blockade of Taiwan. It will be over in a week or less as Taiwan’s lights and communications dwindle and go out.
