A Facebook whistleblower revealed her identity in a Sunday night interview while trashing the social media giant for prioritizing divisive content over safety to garner higher profits.
Frances Haugen, 37, spoke out publicly for the first time since quitting Facebook in May when the company dismantled her unit that attempted to address misinformation on the popular platform.
Before leaving the company, Haugen copied thousands of pages on internal documents — some of which had already been reported on — to back up her claims.
“The thing I saw at Facebook over and over again was there were conflicts of interest between what was good for the public and what was good for Facebook,” Haugen said on CBS’s “60 Minutes.”
“Facebook, over and over again, chose to optimize for its own interests, like making more money,” said Haugen.
Haugen, a data scientist from Iowa, linked what she characterized as Facebook’s inaction in squashing misinformation to the Jan. 6 US Capital riot.
After the polarizing 2020 election, Haugen said the company got rid of the Civic Integrity unit and disabled some safety features they had put in place to reduce misinformation.
“They told us, ‘We’re dissolving Civic Integrity.’ Like, they basically said, ‘Oh good, we made it through the election. There wasn’t riots. We can get rid of Civic Integrity now,” said Haugen.
“Fast forward a couple months, we got the insurrection.”

Curious what that means in terms of the “misinformation”.
That would be anyone thinking that it wasn't a fair election where the best man won. If you dared to think the election was stolen she wanted you wiped off of the platform.

I agree. Her words ring hollow. It sounds like FB was maximizing profits by not “squashing” what she thought was misinfo. I’m troubled by any of the tech giants deciding what is info and misinfo in either direction.
That is an intriguing conjecture.

She makes her feelings about anyone who supported Trump pretty clear. The fact that CBS's 60 Minutes is hyping her supports the feeling that the Left now thinks FascistBook isn't Fascict enough.

The Deep State sent her and instructed CBS to put her on. I am no fan of FB, but it’s clear this Karen was a Deep State mole who wants much more censorship on social media. The DS still has an ax to grind against Zuckerberg, as they blame him for Trump’s victory in 2016.
That nails it. That is exactly what is going on here.

The only solution of course is for the Government to step in and prevent “disinformation”.

I will bet my next paycheck that this woman had no problem with FB doing ZERO censorship on BLM related posts, regardless of the violence & looting they triggered.

They are now trying to hang both Trump’s 2016 victory and Jan 6th on both Zuckerberg and FB.
The plan is to replace Zuck with either a BLM type or Palestinian.
