I’m the founder of MeWe, the ad-free social network with data privacy and no content amplification or newsfeed manipulation. MeWe competes directly with Facebook. On June 27, 2019, I wrote an op-ed in this newspaper headlined “I Compete With Facebook, and It’s No Monopoly.”
I’ve changed my mind. MeWe continues to succeed, albeit on a modest scale. Two years ago the platform had five million users and no revenue. Today it has nearly 20 million users and is breaking even with millions of dollars in revenue. Yet despite MeWe’s growth, Facebook’s troubling actions over the last two years have caused me to change my position, for six reasons.
So I’ve changed my mind. Facebook is a monopoly like the world has never seen. It has more power to influence, manipulate and change thoughts, opinions, votes and purchase decisions on a global scale than any nation or government. It has an army of lobbyists who stymie effective regulation or oversight.

Does anybody here use MeWe? If so, what is your experience with it?
It’s as if the phone company canceled service to people who talked about things Ma Bell didn’t like.
Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead
When I went there I got this:
“Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to archive.vn. If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit card details.
“What can you do about it?
“The issue is most likely with the website, and there is nothing you can do to resolve it. You can notify the website’s administrator about the problem.”
Did Fartfaux give you that warning on post #3?
facebruck, the one world government/new world order
Also, they're a Woke corporation.
Firefox is the default on the device I’m using right now. I usually go with the Mac but not home right now.
There’s an ad blocker on here, and I don’t know when I last saw an ad.
yes
I'll have to look into Firefox to see if they're doing some gratuitous blocking for their Big Tech pals.
So, it's the Firefox browser, then - contrary to their protestations.
[I checked with my Brave browser, too. No message.]
It may be related to a Symantec certificate, but I’m not getting the warning on any of my three browsers.

You get it for free but the quality sucks. You have no say in how it works. The guy who runs it gets rich. There's no real competition. You have no privacy. And if you say one thing they don't like they'll shut you up. |

“I feel that I am on a ship of FB fools, in the middle of the ocean, and it’s sinking.”
Me, too. 1/3 of American adults get their primary news via FB. Think abo that fact, alone. 1/3 of potential voters get brainwashed into voting for whoever FB favors. That, my friend, is a stacked deck.

I don’t like the format of MeWe. A big group of my friends, former Freepers, went from FB (when it started censoring us) to MeWe. I miss my friends, but MeWe is not user friendly, imo. Rather, I’m back to FR. And since I posted this article on FB, I’m probably banned from FB forever now, too.
I did private message my ‘friends’ on FB before I posted the article on the main page. F them. FB has been so harmful to so many people, mainly kids who judged themselves by how many friends they had, bullying, stalking. FB is a phenomenon, yes. But I don’t want that in my life.
Thanks, I just looked at it and I didn’t like it either, for the same reasons you didn’t like it.
I use FB to communicate with friends and family, and I like it because everybody can use it (old, young, etc.). I never discuss politics because I just regard it as a place to put up photos of my travels, my horse, etc. and see other people’s photos of the same.
It’s good for that and if any of my many leftwing friends starts posting leftwing stuff, I just shut them down and tell them I don’t do politics.
But after my brief dip into MeWe, combined with my attempt at Gab (which, say what you want, comes across as anti-Semitic), I think I’ll send a few more bucks to JR.
I realized that FR is my home.
JR?
Yes, FR is my home, too.
