Climate change: Stop smoke and mirrors, rich nations told
BBC News ^ | October 3, 2021 | By Matt McGrath

Rich countries' plans to curb carbon are "smoke and mirrors" and must be urgently improved, say poorer nations.

Ministers meeting here in Milan at the final UN session before the Glasgow COP26 climate conference heard that some progress was being made.

But officials from developing countries demanded tougher targets for cutting carbon emissions and more cash to combat climate change.

One minister condemned "selfishness or lack of good faith" in the rich world.

US special envoy John Kerry said all major economies "must stretch" to do the maximum they can.

"We're already on hellish ground at 1.1C," said Simon Steill, Grenada's environment minister who argues that the plans in place just weren't good enough to prevent disaster for his island state.

"We're talking about lives, we're talking about livelihoods, they cannot apply smoke and mirrors to that."

"Every action that is taken, every decision that is taken, has to be aligned with 1.5C, we have no choice."

One of the biggest remaining hurdles to progress remains the question of finance. The richer world promised to pay developing nations $100bn a year from 2020.

That figure hasn't yet been met and while ministers here were confident it would be achieved in Glasgow, the failure to land the money is eroding trust.

"Everything we need to do, we know what that is, and now it's just a question of who's going to be paying for it, who is going to be willing to share their technology," said Tosi Mpanu Mpanu.

"And that's where the problem is. So there seems to be at times selfishness or lack of good faith."

As always, it’s the money, not the cause.

We must destroy ourselves, so we can all be equally miserable together. That’s the pinko leftist plan. Equal misery.

And there it is.

Believe it or don’t but Xi has brought China around

I saw a video report on the current large power shut offs in China that are disrupting industry, business and yes, life. Even in Shanghai.

The reason given is coal. Xi is reported to have said he ordered the cessation of coal fired electric generation at the urging of America and the Euros who demand China pay attention to Climate Change

Xi is in the midst of a heavy duty attack on capitalists (business) and is intent on creating Chinese Socialism (as distinguished from communism).

Actually, I've come to believe it is not primarilly the money.

Not after covid and it's fakeness invented to remove President Trump.

I haven't done it ( and probably won't ), but just like gun control and mass shootings seem to pop up when there's some kind of crisis or event they'd rather didn't get too much exposure, I think climate change is just another red herring drawn across the trail of the Satanists, intent on destroying and/or ruling over God's personal creations .....

man and woman.

One of the biggest remaining hurdles to progress remains the question of finance. The richer world promised to pay developing nations $100bn a year from 2020.

Why? Why should "rich nations" pay? Pay for what? So "developing" nations won't pollute?
Why don't those nations not pollute just for the sake of not polluting, if they're so against "climate change"?

Well, the first thing that needs to be done is to get John Kerry as uninvolved as possible.

Why is nobody telling China, India, Japan and South Korea to stop building 160 ‘new’ coal power plants?

Apparently, only western countries and Europe bare the burden of stopping global warming... All the other countries in this world could care less, and do. That’s because western countries are rich and can tax their populations with ‘carbon’ tax. Global warming is essentially a tax grab... Period!

Well “they” won’t be miserable.
They won’t have to follow the same rules.
BTW is Kerry still flying around in a private jet?

“ Xi is reported to have said he ordered the cessation of coal fired electric generation at the urging of America and the Euros who demand China pay attention to Climate Change”

From Time: “ China is planning to build 43 new coal-fired power plants and 18 new blast furnaces — equivalent to adding about 1.5% to its current annual emissions — according to a new report. ”

From NBC: “ Chinese leader Xi Jinping said on Tuesday that China would not build new coal-fired power projects abroad,”

From Global Energy Monitor: “ In 2020, China built over three times as much new coal power capacity as all other countries in the world combined – the equivalent of more than one large coal plant per week. ”

Don’t get sucked in by Chicom propaganda. China has problems obtaining coal and maintaining its current plants. It’s not going green. It will no longer build coal plants abroad, but that is more a reflection of economic limits than green policy. China will continue to be the world’s largest user of coal for the foreseeable future.

> Xi is reported to have said he ordered the cessation of coal fired electric generation at the urging of America and the Euros

I have heard about the massive blackouts in China, some lasting for 2 or 3 days, affecting whole cities and regions.

It has been reported that the reason for this is that there is no coal. The story is that when the Australians wanted an investigation into the Wuhan Plague the CCP didn’t take too kindly to being called out for an act of war against humanity and demanded an apology. The Aussies said “NUTS” so China said “We will no longer buy your coal”, the Aussies said “So ?” and now China has stepped in it bigly as their domestic coal reserves are not sufficient to run all those coal fired power plants.

I also wonder if the GibsMeDats who want free money realize that money usually is used to buy stuff and the more stuff you buy the more carbon you create, at least if you accept the faulty initial premise and use their own twisted logic.
