Many breathed a sigh of relief when President Biden was elected, not for policy but for a reunification of the country after four years of tumult and fiery division under President Trump. But eight months into the new presidency, America's deep disunity might not be letting up.
A new poll has revealed that political divisions run so deep in the US that over half of Trump voters want red states to secede from the union, and 41% of Biden voters want blue states to split off.
According to the analysis from the University of Virginia's Center for Politics, 52% of Trump voters at least somewhat agree with the statement: 'The situation is such that I would favor [Blue/Red] states seceding from the union to form their own separate country.' Twenty-five percent of Trump voters strongly agree.

No they don't. Look at Virginia's (the most important state to secede) secession statement. They seceded because they considered the Federal government to be tyrannical for declaring war on other states who sought to leave peacefully.
Of all the states which issued "secession statements", most of them did not mention slavery as a reason. 3 did. Perhaps 4 if you stretch a bit. 11 states seceded, and 3 perhaps 4 can be said to have left because of slavery.
4 against 7 is a minority, yet people keep claiming that all the states left over slavery. This is called propaganda .

PING!
Why do you insist on humiliating yourself over and over again?
WHEN DID SLAVERY REALLY END IN THE UNITED STATES?
"slavery in the continental United States came to an end as a legal institution on June 14, 1866, when the Creek Tribe agreed to abandon African-American slavery."

I love communists. Especially when they’re falling out of helicopters.
That is exactly what the Lincoln supported Corwin Amendment said. This amendment passed the congress with mostly Northern state votes. It was ratified by five northern states.
So yeah, that's exactly what the North was going to do.
why do the articles of secession from all of the states mention slavery as a reason for seceding?
Because that is a lie. Only 4 mention slavery as a reason for secession, and even at that, they mention a whole lot of other stuff too, but people have been taught to only remember the slavery part, and not at all the other things they complained about.
And most of the states did not mention slavery as a reason. Certainly Virginia did not say they were leaving because of slavery. They said they were leaving because the Federal government had become tyrannical.
I’m in Maryland, but you won’t have to worry about me doing that when I move down there. I don’t even buy Maryland gear, because I want to bring as little Maryland with me as possible.
You make his point for him. They did not come to war again.
Also, one of those times was when Lincoln's people grabbed some confederate officials under British protection. Lincoln wisely ordered them released. "One war at a time." he said.
As long as their country gets Kaliforniastan, NY, NJ, and the other commie states AND THEIR DEBT and we can move all US military bases out of their states to ours, I’m for it. Oh, and the My Pillow guy moves out of Minnesotastan and into a southern state.
One might ask you the same question.
WHEN DID SLAVERY REALLY END IN THE UNITED STATES?
You said slavery was abolished in 1866. Slavery in the United States was abolished when the 13th Amendment took effect in December 1865. The Constitution and U.S. law did not apply to recognized Indian nations such as the Creek, which is why a treaty was required to get the Creek to free their remaining slaves.
Well there was that little kerfuffle from 1812 to 1814. Or hadn't you heard of that?
We should sucede. I am done with the democrat taliban party using government to control the rest of us.
No revisionism is needed. They abolished slavery. Period.
Lincoln didn't think he could abolish slavery, and this was an attempt to prevent more states from seceding over the issue while preventing the spread of slavery. Then the first shots of the CW were fired, and that was it for this amendment. At that point, he had additional powers that he could use to abolish slavery, and that's what he did.
Because that is a lie. Only 4 mention slavery as a reason for secession, and even at that, they mention a whole lot of other stuff too, but people have been taught to only remember the slavery part, and not at all the other things they complained about.
I know, I know, it was about states rights, but from their pint of view those states rights included slavery.
And most of the states did not mention slavery as a reason.
You mentioned that several times in your other post. Do share, what is the state's right they seceded over?
Certainly Virginia did not say they were leaving because of slavery. They said they were leaving because the Federal government had become tyrannical.
"and the Federal Government, having perverted said powers, not only to the injury of the people of Virginia, but to the oppression of the Southern Slaveholding States." Their words, not mine.
No need when I'm right - which I am.

Slavery was not legally abolished in the United States until 1866. You can try to weasel all you like but that FACT is indisputable.
No revisionism is needed. They abolished slavery. Period.
They were not founded to abolish slavery as you claimed. Period.
Lincoln was not in favor of abolishing slavery - a point he made over and over again. Slavery forever was in fact the first bargaining chip the North/Republicans/Federal Government offered up. It was rejected - because slavery wasn't really what anybody was fighting about.
I know, I know, it was about states rights, but from their pint of view those states rights included slavery. It was really about controlling their tariffs and setting their own trade policy.....about not being taxed for the benefit of others. And most of the states did not mention slavery as a reason. You mentioned that several times in your other post. Do share, what is the state's right they seceded over? Certainly Virginia did not say they were leaving because of slavery. She always tries to lie about that. The states exercised their sovereign right to leave a voluntary union. That's not "rebellion". The US federal government was not their rightful ruler.
They abolished slavery. Unless you can post something to prove that didn’t happen, you’re wasting FR’s bandwidth.
