For the past 18 months Australians have endured onerous government restrictions imposed on their lives in the name of fighting Covid.
Basic activities once considered the birthright of every Australian such as going to work or school and spending time with family have been banned during the pandemic as governments pursued the ultimately impossible goal of stamping out the virus.
Australia was alone among democratic nations in preventing people from leaving the country and imposed caps and mandatory quarantine for returning citizens - while states have used public health laws to impose intrusive QR codes, mask wearing, psychologically devastating isolation and business-crippling lockdowns.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews even proposed letting ordinary residents arrest fellow citizens if they suspected they may breach public health orders - but that power was rejected by the state parliament.
Drinking in packed pubs
In a paper titled 2022 Will Be Better, experts at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health said density requirements for indoor venues will be needed for years to come.
Wearing masks
In Victoria masks will still be required indoors in public venues such as shopping malls, even after the 80 per cent vaccination threshold is passed.
Must be Vaxxed
Opposition frontbencher James Newbury said concern was growing that unvaccinated people would have their rights severely curtailed for a long time.
'Within weeks, you can only get married in Victoria if you have been vaccinated.
'And, alarmingly, you can only commemorate a loved one at a funeral if you have got the jab,' he told Daily Mail Australia.
Mr Newbury described the roadmap as 'more of a roadblock' and said: 'It's utter lunacy' to keep tough restrictions in place for so long.

Before she resigned, NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian declared the QR code check-in system - which tracks people's visits to every commercial premises - will remain 'as long as Covid's around', so it could effectively become permanent.
This would allow businesses to see a customer's vaccination status when they check in to a venue.
Everyone will be tracked all the time, everywhere.
Coming soon to a country where you live.
If the USA rebels, others will follow suit.
What others don’t understand is that the opposite is true. The opposite in both ways.
If they rebel we will too. But they have no guns. They will need to be pushed further into a corner before finally throwing their bodies into the machines.
Sounds like this tipping point is right around the corner.

Will never, I’m sorry to say.
It’s too built-in these days with electronic devices, credit cards, debit cards, EFT.
Just wondering when they will make cash illegal.
A few are “proud” not to take cash these days.
We sure do live in interesting times.
We need some bread to enjoy this circus called TV.

What a woman
I still don’t have a cell phone .....and have no plans for one.
I decided I did not want to be “paged” 24/7 when they first came out...I love my landline with an answering machine. That puts me in control and not every Tom, Dick and Harry who wants to interrupt my day or activities.
And this isn’t a fascist police state? Yes, yes it is....
WE have the power but like a muscle,it can atrophy.
And who’s going to win the game this weekend?
Exactly
