a “civilian crime technician” or someone from the coroner’s office will be sent to bag up the body.

And then fine you for littering.

So according to those criteria, if I go to visit a friend and see the door is open and walk in and see their lifeless body, I should fill out an online form?

Well, that will help reduce crime statistics; not actual crime, mind you, just the statistics.
Time to form neighborhood vigilance committees, with guns and ropes.

They’ve done that here for years. It’s just a report so the insurance companies will have it to pay out. Only reason they’ll come out here is violence....period.

We effectively habe the military called up for hospitals in NY, general unvaxxed state employee replacement in CT, and gasoline distribution in the UK. How long until Mmilley and Austin’s troops are augmenting police departments?

“just love how politicians - and especially liberal politicians - pick innocent-sounding names for really bad ideas.”

The left has a special talent when it comes to inventing new euphemisms to gaslight and bamboozle the useful idiots.

Another recent one of theirs is “human infrastructure” which is another word for expanding the welfare state up the wazoo and make people even less responsible.

This article is just a lie.....A police department announcing that it will no longer respond to non-emergency 911 calls is stating something which should have already been policy.

Hey, you are only supposed to read the headline and not the entire article.

But yeah, this article is full of crap.

New York City did this under Gilliani or Bloomberg a long time ago. 911 is for emergencies only, you call 311 for other inquiries. It makes sense.

Actually this is already the policy in most suburban/rural areas Red or Blue. In an Emergency you call 911, but a non-emergency you just look up and call the police station's regular phone number.

This would be harder for a bigger city as they have multiple prescients which would make it more difficult to know which one to call, so a blanket 311 makes more sense.

SO yeah, this is not one of the Liberals goofy ideas.

That is correct. Remember a year and a half ago when that army sergeant shot and killed that antifa terrorist who pulled a gun on him? Evidently Austin considers that individual a threat as they have charged with murder.

Pretty obvious you both did not bother to read the article

Instead you went for your usual knee jerk Freeper troll whine posting instead

Being knee jerk obnoxious habitually is not a sign of intellectual prowess but quite the opposite actually

Phhhffftttt

In Spokane (WA) in the late 70s, this was the norm. The city was proud they had 30% fewer cops than other US cities of the same size.

All about the $$$$$

911 = Government sponsored Dial a Prayer.

I live in a rural area with no police other than county sheriff’s.

We tend to live by the three S’s...

And this story reminds me of the joke where an old man calls the cops about someone breaking into his shed, to which they respond they don’t have any units available, it will be an hour or more before someone gets out there. He fires off a couple of rounds, to which the operator says what is that? He responds nevermind, just send the morgue, I shot’em. 5 minutes later, the cops show up, and while the perp’s are NOT dead, they’re not running or going anywhere. The cops on scene now say I thought you shot them? He responds I thought you said there’s no officers available in the area?

/paraphrase joke, and I suck at it.

““A non-emergency is an incident in which the incident is no longer in progress, the suspect or the people involved are no longer on scene, and there is no further immediate threat to life or property,” Chacon said.”

Translation. Those crimes will let you generate a report online that will never be investigated...ever. You just get a report to sent to State Farm.

Crime will explode because no pilfering thief will be caught...ever. And it’ll take them an afternoon to figure THAT out.

It’s not a lie and you are just playing sophistry games. Yeah, we all know 911 is for emergencies. But 311 is only for non-police service responses. A call to 311 will not generate any investigative response. 311 sends you to the solid waste department, the transit department, parks and rec, code enforcement, animal control etc etc. It does not dispatch you a cop.

An online report will not result in any police work.

And you miss the big point. There are a ton of situations that require a cop to respond to in a sane city that are less than 911 calls. Now there is no response between 911 and file an Indiana Jones warehouse report online.

This is Austin PD flipping the finger to good law enforcement.

“The 311 calls and online reports will be investigated down the line, if such an investigation is deemed appropriate, Chacon said.”

Burglarized? There won’t be a cop who knocks on neighbors doors and finds a witness, he won’t be approached by the neighborhood kids who watched it happen, he won’t notice the suspicious rent house with new neighbors in the center of a rash of problems and break ins.

Starting an investigation months later is worthless. And we are to believe they don’t have manpower to send Reid and Malloy to the scene, but they will have the manpower for later?

Sure.
