Victoria records 1143 new coronavirus cases and three more deaths (Lockdown Numbers)

Victoria has recorded 1143 new local cases of coronavirus and three more people have died.

The reduction from yesterday's significant spike comes as more than 349,35 COVID-19 vaccines were administered in the state in the last 24 hour reporting period.

An expert has warned case numbers in Victoria could soon hit 6000 per day as talk turns to an extension of the state's lockdowns.

Victoria's roadmap to freedom may need to be paused or modified due to yesterday's record-breaking numbers, with 1438 new infections recorded.

GP Dr Mukesh Haikerwal said cases will "probably double and double again".

"I'll say it again. They will probably double and double again, especially as we get towards the 80 per cent target, because we need to go vaccinating beyond 80 per cent and we have got to be ready with good testing, good contact tracing and (improving) ventilation," Dr Haikerwal told Today.

"Then we have to remember, we have done over 230 days in isolation, the most locked down city in the world in Melbourne. We have to make sure we don't lose the gains we have gained from that time.

Our city here has more murders each day than an entire state in Australia had from Covid. That’s worth a total shutdown?

“Losers crap their pants from their fear they will catch a cold” - that is my summation of the Australia situation.

As lockdowns increase infections increase. This is not about controlling COVID. It is about controlling people.

Queensland - no deaths since one alleged covid death in April 2021; the previous alleged covid death was April 2020!

1 Oct: news.com.au: Australia Covid news live: Premier ‘will not hesitate’ to lockdown Queensland
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has revealed one case is all it will take to trigger a snap lockdown for the state.
by Ally Foster
Queensland confirmed two new locally acquired cases on Friday, a drop from the six infections recorded on Thursday...

football final due this weekend in Brisbane, Queensland; capacity crowd dropped to 75% yesterday, could be called off. was maybe being moved to Townsville in North Queensland, but now they have recorded ONE CASE, so that probably eliminates them.

1 Oct: news.com.au: Victorian golf’s toilet ban is ‘the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard’
Victorian golfers were furious to discover all indoor facilities – including toilets – had been banned due to strict Covid-19 guidelines.
by Nic Savage
Melbourne golf clubs welcomed guests back after the Victorian government allowed them and tennis courts to open for the first time in several weeks.

However, indoor areas of the clubs, including toilets, remained shut to patrons under the restrictive guidelines...

Speaking on radio station 3AW, Royal Melbourne Golf Club captain Andrew Kirby called the restrictions a “joke” and a “breach of human rights”.
“I know the blokes can do a number one in the trees, but there are lots of women playing,” he said...

meanwhile, supermarkets could close! never mind:

30 Sept: 9News: Coles calls for COVID-19 isolation rules to ease as supermarkets struggle to operate
By Chanel Zagon, Serena Seyfort
Coles has called for COVID-19 isolation rules to ease with 30,000 staff members forced to isolate for a fortnight due to virus exposures over the past three months.

Coles Chief Operating Officer Matt Swindells said the current two-week isolation period required after a person was exposed to the virus was posing “a significant issue at a local level”.
There are currently 3000 staff members isolating across Victoria and New South Wales, leading to supermarkets having to cut opening hours and delays in stores fulfilling click-and-collect and delivery orders...

Speaking to Today, Mr Swindells said not one of the 30,000 staff members had tested positive to the virus, proving isolation requirements needed to ease up...
“We’re working towards living with COVID... but we’re applying eliminating COVID rules,” he said...

Lexi is one of the 1000 Woolworths staff currently isolating after a COVID-19 positive case entered her Craigieburn supermarket.
Her two weeks in quarantine is supposed to end soon, but she has not heard anything from the health department.
Today the state government flagged two weeks in quarantine may not be required in future for those who are fully vaccinated...

at any given time, there are tens of thousands of Australians in isolation, simply because they’ve been contact traced through QR codes, as having been somewhere where someone who is allegedly covid positive was present for a brief time.

THREE DEATHS??? In a state with 6.7 million people, that is NOTHING. Norway has 1.4 million less people than Victoria, and had FIVE deaths the same day....yet are totally removing ALL Covids restrictions this week.

They only delayed the inevitable and it will instead explode with the way they handled it. Did they spend the time increasing infrastructure, putting in aggressive treatment protocols, etc. during the time the lockdown was supposed to buy? Doesn’t look like it.

This kind of lockdown only would work with literally every single person locked down and isolated for 3 weeks, and no outsiders ever getting in or out after that. Is that possible? No...

Apparently the police are not sufficiently beating the virus out of the citizenry.

More clubs and helmets are needed.
