U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- There has been a spate of bear vs people conflicts in Idaho from July through September of 2021. Three of them happened near Island Park, which is in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE). A sow with at least one cub mauled a hiker on July 10, 2021.
Although the bear that Whitney estimated between 350 and 400 pounds began to swing its claws and biting him, he lay in the fetal position and covered his head and neck. The bear’s cub stayed a short distance away from the attack.
“All I could hear is the growling and I honestly thought, ‘What a way to go, and this might have been it,'” Whitney said. “I said a quick little prayer hoping things would de-escalate, and next thing I knew, the bear took off.”
On July 31, a bike rider was very happy he was faster than the grizzly chasing him. This bear was also a sow. The Idaho Fish & Game believes the bear had cubs.
ISLAND PARK, Idaho — A mountain biker avoided injury after being chased by a grizzly bear near Island Park in northeastern Idaho Friday morning.
The U.S. Forest Service for Caribou-Targhee National Forest posted on Facebook and said a female grizzly bear was sighted in the Stamp Meadows Road area. The bear chased the biker but did not catch or hurt him.
Then, on 23 September, a sow grizzly, reportedly with cubs, in the area, was shot and killed when it attacked archery hunters near Island Park. The hunters deployed both bear spray and a pistol. The incident is still under investigation, but it appears the bear was shot at very close range.

The only good bear is a dead bear. That goes for commies too.
The momma bears are getting mad. Just look at the school board meetings across the country. Don’t mess with momma bears
Smokey just raised an eyebrow. He don’t like commies either though.
The lesson is: Stay away from Island Park
1. Move citizens off private land and into urban housing.
2. Create vast wilderness spaces inhabited by large carnivores.
3. Eliminate cars and create “walkable” cities.
4. Support chosen private businesses with public funds for “sustainable development”.
5. Make policy decision that favor the ‘greater good’ over individuals.
6. Drastically reduce the use of power, water, and anything else that creates “carbon pollution”.
7. Use bureaucracies to make sweeping decisions outside of democratic processes.
8. Increase taxes, fees, and regulations.
9. Implement policies meant to incentivize a reduced population.
Lets send these scumbag politicians a free plane ticket and a bear costume to Idaho this will solve much
Remember the bear story of all time, where FReeoer Kanawa knifed a black bear to death in order to save his dog.

I’ve had to deal with nuisance bears while camping and backpacking. I am not fond of bears at all.
I just was told that there is a grizzly bear hanging around Tamarack (south of New Meadows) that has killed some livestock. That’s pretty far south for a grizzly in Idaho.
We’re seeing more and more Black Bears in my neck of the woods here in Ocean Shores Washington. Our little city is also overrun by Blacktail Deer, I personally believe we have more deer than full time residents. (We’re a small beach town)
Tourists and the lonely liberal hags whose husbands died long ago just to get away from them, like to feed the deer and consequently these vermin, the feeders, cause all kinds of trouble. Whether it be aggressive behavior at the feeding locations, people’s front yards, or projectile diarrhea from all the detrimental tasty treats these fools feed the creatures, the problems get bigger every year.
With all the deer around, the damn thing have twin fawns about 90% of the time and contrary to nature, we’ve seen 2 rutting seasons a year for the past 5 years, the Bears and yes Cougars the 4 legged kind are on the rise here.
We haven’t had any problems with the Bears attacking humans yet, but once the Bears and Cougars reduce the overpopulation of Deer it’s probably going to become an issue.
I remember reading a bad dystopian book as a young teen (written in late 60’s or very early 70s (terribly written book)) where all of these things happened. The only thing I remember clearly about it is that one day someone drove a fire truck into town to show it off, and all of the residents were amazed by the red flashing lights.
