Are Perceptions of COVID Changing?
AmericanThinker.com ^ | September 9, 2021 | Anthony J. Ciani

Mask and vaccine mandates are less politically damaging than they should be. Recent polls show that around 64% of Americans support mask mandates, although less than half view masks as effective. One in four view masks as hazardous and ineffective. Playing on COVID fears, Democrats are beating Republicans 45% to 33% on their handling of the COVID pandemic. John Q. Public views the party that called the pandemic a hoax, that played games with lockdowns, and that had plentiful hairdresser and French Laundry moments as they abused and made light of the pandemic, to be more trustworthy on the issue. Why, and what can be done to correct this?

The repetition of the big lie, suppression of facts and lack of personal experiences have skewed perceptions. Big Media and Big Tech have consummated an unholy alliance with Big Government to spread “fact checks” and disinformation masquerading as truth. If government disinformation is the problem, then privately spreading information is the solution.

A scientist colleague proclaimed, “I cannot believe how anti-science the Republicans are acting.” I corrected him, “the Republicans are the only ones following the science.” I informed him that the CDC’s studies showed that masks were ineffective, that other studies suggested masks would worsen spread and severity of disease, and that Pfizer’s Phase II/III vaccine trials suggest that their vaccine will kill three healthy people through side effects to save one life from COVID (over six months, with declining efficacy). Meanwhile, there are multiple effective therapies, such as ivermectin, monoclonal antibodies, budesonide, vitamin D3, zinc, azithromycin and hydroxychloroquine, which are inexpensive and can individually reduce deaths by over 80% and can be used in combination.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Covid is the flu in a Halloween mask.

As long as Democrats think that mandatory vaccinations and masking are winning political issues, they will continue these draconian policies. I think they jumped the shark with their persecution of the unvaccinated in the work force though. Their assumption that all unvaccinated are Trump supporters is wrong.

Hey… I’ve got an idea. How about a balance emphasis on BOTH voluntary vaccinations and tremendous support of effective treatments. Combine that with prohibition of mask mandates in schools (you know, the old-fashioned parents’ freedom to choose for their children) and you’re getting somewhere. If that sounds familiar, it’s Governor DeSantis’ approach for Florida.

You can see the results in the below linked chart drilling down to Florida’s data. And Desantis’ results come in spite of Biden’s campaign of pouring in infected illegal aliens from the southwest border. You might have to reselect Florida in the drop down menu if that gets lost in the copy and paste of the link.

Bio fascism........do they want people to start shooting?

Unless they release cheap, readily available non prescription Drugs for the People, we will indeed have a war over the issues.

These drugs have been proven to work, decentralize the approach to dealing with the so called pandemic, and let people take care of themselves.

And get the hell out of our lives.

*** My colleague was taken aback. Neither he nor his nurse girlfriend had heard any of this, and the same is true for many of my left-leaning associates, even MDs. They only knew what issued from the talking heads on network news or appeared in drive-by media headlines, and only accepted what came from official, non-Republican political sources.***

This is the same type of thing I face in my own family. It is maddening. I can correct them and point them to other sources, but they have let FEAR rule over them. It makes me very sad.

I’ve lost one brother to CoVid, but I am losing my other siblings to fear of CoVid. They continue to wear masks, even outside if they’re in a crowd. I cannot talk sense into them.

Just last week I had a conversation with my BIL and told him about monoclonal antibodies treatments. I was dumbfounded that he had never heard of it and he lives in Florida.

There’s no reason other than Big Pharma and greed that our MEDICAL FREEDOM is restricted.

HCQ and ivermectin (for people) should be FREELY AVAILABLE over-the-counter like ibuprofen, acetomycin, aspirin, and other drugs that are safe when used properly.

Well if 64% still want to mask up, that means that 64% are still glued to the main stream news narrative. Logic at work here.

About which they are 100% correct (not the things themselves, but their force as an issue).

If there were a national plebiscite on masks and vaccines, it would win - and win by a lot.

“told him about monoclonal antibodies treatments”

We had that a week ago today, and I regret it. It was brutal.

Today is day 4 of ivermectin, and things are so much better.

“Recent polls show that around 64% of Americans support mask mandates, although less than half view masks as effective.”

Maybe it’s a privacy issue. Surveillance drills down through many levels of granularity, and many are uncomfortable with the current state of intelligence collection. So a mask may provide a modicum of assurance that is completely false.

I’m not sure this falls under that fallacy. The opening line laments that hardline mandates should be more damaging politically, and public opinion polls (while almost always being slanted, mostly left, IMO) are a valid measure of pending political damage.

As I frequently write: 50% of Americans have below average IQs.

“I cannot believe how anti-science the Republicans are acting.”

There’s Covid real science and Covid political science. The Deep State hoodwinks the masses with the latter; smart people find and follow the former.

Their assumption that all unvaccinated are Trump supporters is wrong.

True.

The evidence:
Blacks reject the jab by a greater percentage than any other group.
Blacks gave less support to Trump than any other group.

And how about those PhDs, eh? Buncha no-vaxxers!
