Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) on Tuesday asked Gen. Mark Milley why he had not resigned over the deadly evacuation from Afghanistan.
“Why haven’t you resigned?” Cotton asked Milley, citing Milley’s comments that President Biden did not consult the general until August 25 about moving the evacuation deadline past the Taliban-enforced deadline of August 31.
“General Milley, I can only conclude that your advice about staying in Afghanistan was rejected,” Cotton said. “I’m shocked to learn that your advice wasn’t sought until August 25th on staying past the August 31 deadline.”
“I understand that you’re the principal military adviser, but you don’t decide, the president decides, but if all this is true, General Milley, why haven’t you resigned?” Cotton asked.
“I’m not going to resign,” Milley declared. “If the orders were illegal, that’s different. But if they’re legal from a civilian authority, I intend to carry them out.”
“My job is to provide advice. My statutory responsibility is to provide legal advice or best military advice to the president, and that’s my legal requirement. That’s what the law is,” Milley said. “The president doesn’t have to agree with that advice. He doesn’t have to make those decisions just because we’re generals.”
“It would be an incredible act of political defiance for a commissioned officer to just resign because my advice is not taken. This country doesn’t want generals figuring out what orders we are going to accept and do or not. That’s not our job,” Milley added.
The deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan left thousands of U.S. lawful permanent residents stranded behind enemy lines, billions of dollars worth of equipment abandoned to the Taliban, and 13 U.S. troops killed by a suicide bomb.

“This country doesn’t want generals figuring out what orders we are going to accept and do or not. That’s not our job,” Milley added.
They also want Generals which look out for the best interests of this nation and its constitution. Something clearly not what we see in Gen Milley
It requires a man of honor to take responsibility and resign. Milley has no honor.
He has a few more arms deals to get into place so he can retire to the boards of a few defense contractors.
Millie to resign
Which is rich, considering how he went behind Trump’s back.
I didn’t know Sarah Palin had her own news site. Good for her. Although, from what I have seen, most her news articles are the same news articles you can find on most conservative websites. I may have overlooked some. My stay was brief.
I hope it works as a profitable venture for her.
I was somewhat disappointed not to see a ‘Comments’ section open for public posting, but considering the extreme hate she got from the Dems, I get why Sarah does not want to make it easier for them to invade, hack or troll her forum.
Interesting. That’s the same question I have for Tom Cotton: Why didn’t you resign from the coup enabling and highly corrupt Senate intel committee?
“With all due respect, Senator, make me,” Gen. Milley responded, humbly.
On the Left failure gets rewarded.
Milley and Boorda had a very large thing in common.
Neither of those Flag Officers were graduates of Military Acadamies. Boorda, not USNA, Milley not USMA.
It is a fact that they did not attend the Professional Schools! ‘Nuff said.
Milley does not have the balls that Boorda had, to commit suicide. But, I dare him!
“This country doesn’t want generals figuring out what orders we are going to accept and do or not. That’s not our job,” Milley added.

And yet that’s exactly what you, milley, and Pelosi and your chicom military handler and officers below you did.
This man is either insane or a traitor criminal.
Resign? But he gets such good deals at the PX for nail polish and lavender hair dye!
