Blue States Ask American Taxpayers to Subsidize Housing for Poor Afghans

Some blue states are mulling plans to ask American taxpayers to subsidize housing for newly arrived Afghans brought to the United States by President Joe Biden’s administration as they struggle to afford housing costs in particular cities.

The Biden administration is hoping to bring 95,000 Afghans to the U.S. over the next 12 months. Already, about 37,000 Afghans are in the U.S. and will soon need housing in about 46 states.

In certain cities and regions, Afghans running into high housing costs — partially pushed up by the nation’s legal immigration levels that bring millions of new arrivals to the U.S. every decade, all of whom need housing and thus increase demand.

“Population growth results in higher housing costs … Aside from San Diego, they all have higher population growth rates than the nation as a whole,” NumbersUSA’s Andrew Good has previously written. “San Diego is what happens when a locality won’t, or can’t build enough additional housing to sustain higher population growth. But thanks to the aggregate pressures from national population growth, housing prices still go up.”

That impact is now reaching Afghans, most of whom have only been in the U.S. for a few weeks and are still in the process of completing their immigration processing.

In California, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) wants state taxpayers to foot the bill for the issue, requesting nearly $17 million to fund “cash assistance” for thousands of Afghans who will be resettled in the state. Some of that funding would go toward providing housing for Afghans.

Washington, DC, and northern Virginia area, where many Afghans will be resettled, refugee contractors are attempting to sweep up enough affordable housing to place newly arrived Afghans, according to the Washington Post.

I think the federal government generally underwrites these
refugee groups. My big problem with these people being here
isn’t related to cost. It’s one of them having been vetted
adequately.

If they helped us in Afghanistan, and they are vetted, then
the federal government should foot the bill.

These groups are never managed very well. They all seem to
wind up in one region, and it totally transforms the region
into a totally different dynamic.

Most if not all the Somali refugees wound up in one state.
Why were they even brought over? Did we have big operation
there were we used them as interpreters and the like?

Americans share responsibility for that as well, between a combination of refusing to breed and supporting local governments that make the costs of suburbia prohibitive for the relatively few young Americans. Our elites simply won’t tolerate ghost towns; they’ll fill them with someone else when the last American leaves.

This is the source of tension around many black ‘hoods; they’ve been surrounded by replacement Americans, and are in constant contact with foreign shopkeepers and such. When you see Michael Brown or Eric Garner stirring up sh!t around Asian businesses, it is no coincidence there are no whites in the picture.

The US has set limits to the number of people we invite in every year. The reason for that is that it takes time to assimilate that many people every year. I have worked with people from many nations and understand what it takes to bring someone over. My concern is that we are allowing so many people in so fast that there is no way they can integrate easily. I do not understand how “putting kids in cages” was so evil before but is now perfectly OK. Some of those kids are on suicide watch. Here is a story about these poor, neglected kids. People are just put on busses and dropped off at a bus station. AND LEFT THERE. Or they are given plane tickets with not so much as a “God go with you”. How cruel is that? How do they know what to do or where to go? They are left on the streets or put into military facilities for long periods of time. How is this kind or compassionate or caring or godly?
My thought would be to start planning and there seems to none at this time. Ask for volunteers to accept a family or group of people for a time, if they are new to the US. Let them decide for how long. Let these migrants see how to spend time in the US. Show them how to live and thrive in America. Give them examples of the many benefits offered to them here. That all takes time and energy, but planning most of all. Just dropping people off and allowing them to exist is not right or compassionate. Some people caring for these children take 10-15 kids at a time. Unless you are set up to care for that many it is very difficult to do if we really want these kids to achieve a fruitful life here.
As an example, regarding the Haitians. Are the schools prepared to take in all of these new kids? What language do they speak? How can we best teach an older Haitian child that really needs to be in a lower grade because of skill level and necessary teaching level to learn basic skills and language but is too old to be in a younger class. It does them no good to be in a school with children his/her same age if they do not have basic skills. We have remedial classes for college kids but we have nothing to be able to remediate these kids who have to learn basic skills before they can learn more complex thoughts and ideas. This is not fair to them. How can they thrive if they are not prepared?
I think it is cruel to just let in so many people without preparation for them. Do we just expect to put them all on welfare and never teach them how to thrive in this great country? America can do anything it sets its mind to, but simply letting in all of these people and letting them roam our country is not right. I am not sure what the goal is or why this is being done but the people of the US are not prepared to deal with this this fast. It will simply make people angry and feel overwhelmed. That is not healthy for anyone.

Are you aware that polio is active in Afghanistan? It is eradicated here.

How about drug resistant TB. Very prevalent in South Am. Do you want your family exposed to that?

It takes time to bring migrants up to the necessary healthcare we enjoy and have worked so hard to develop.
