But—as old Adolph learned in his bunker—being a crazed lunatic is easy, getting your commands enforced on the ground is a whole different ball-game.

I've seldom worn a mask in the past weeks. Only in medical contexts, but not shopping.

One exception, the local hardware store has a full blown mask Nazi cashier berating the unmasked customers und ODERINK zhey mask up as zhey enter.

Yesterday I drove 7½ miles out of my way past them to the orange big box hardware store. Sadly that supply depot was out of what I needed. I considered driving another 10 miles to the blue hardware store, but my gas tank was really lowe, and I had the faint hope that the mask Nazi wouldn't be at my local store on Sunday.

Wrong. She was.

I gritted my teeth, but didn't hold my tongue, and bought the single item I needed immediately.

Perhaps I got the true value of availability.

But ya know what? I'm putting the finishing touches on a $6,000 project, of which I spent less than maybe $200 there, simply because of this budding Hitlerjugend at the door.

I have a friend who has what I'll call a business relationship with Hochul (I don't want to be too specific). I was saying to him that I thought Hochul might be good for WNY (where she is from) since downstate pols have been destroying the rest of the state for a long time, now. His response was that she comes across as a nice enough person, but that she would absolutely be a terrible governor. Looks like he was right.
